Hi guys,
First off; a warning: this is not meant to be racist, don't take it that way, it's purely out of curiosity. I was helping mum and dad at work for a bit today (they own a business with ~10 staff in Australia), and i was introduced to a new staff member, a Filipino lady named Linda.
After she finished work, she came to me (as the bosses' son), held out her bag (transparent shopping bag), and asked if i wanted to look. seeing a pack of photos inside, i politely said yes, thinking she wanted to show me the pictures of her family she was showing mum earlier.
She then proceeded to show me the entire contents of her bag, including the inside of her dirty lunch box, and unfolding her jumper to show me inside it.
She was not showing me photos, but rather that she was not stealing anything.
Is this a Filipino thing? Is theft so high there that employers expect staff to show their bags upon leaving? Is this lady just weird?
Thank you for your answer!
Cheers!
Thank you Aiza for that honest answer, from an australian born and bred, it is very different, but very interesting.
The ethics and morales you're talking about are very very high, which is really good that the people of an entire country can maintain those ethics when their government is corrupt around them, it seems very commendable of the Filipino society in general.
Thank you again for you answer,
