Figuring out ax^2+bx+c from a line?

I was wondering how you can figure out a quadratic equation in general form. For example, I've been given a line that has x intercepts of 4 and -2. I also know the y intercept is -16. how can I figure out the equation in general form. I have to factor it too but I know how to do that. Help is greatly appreciated and needed.
