Fight Club - what are your views?

The movie is genius, maybe not easily accessble to most but still a very creative movie.I actually believe that despite being nearly 10 years old is still way ahead of it's time.

I like the fact that it's nearly impossible to define what genre it belongs to (thriller, action, horror?) but it's probably too clever for it's own good like other twist movie Jacob's Ladder,so it come off as pretentious.

The first time I saw this film I didnt really like it.

The 2nd time I ,liked it

The 3rd time I LOVED it. I consider it a classic... not a comfortable viewing, but a great film nevertheless.

I thought the twist was silly btw...:o

I agree, also at the time the twist was pretty novel and new (it came out not long after the sixth sense) but nowadays with everyone and his dog imitating the Shyamalantwist (including Shyamalan!) it looks slightly ridiculous, the film is dating quite badly already IMO. The first half or so of the movie is still top notch however.

This.

It was on Film4 some time ago and I'd been wanting to watch it for such a long time. It was a good film, acted very well by the leaRAB and the twist I did not see coming. It's in my list of favourite films.

It is a great film. Definitely one of the key films of the 1990s. I'd put it just behind Unforgiven on my list of best films of the 1990s. It wasn't a great success at the box office. Partly I think the advertising campaign didn't pay off as a lot of people thought it was a boxing movie. It split the critics.

It is one of those adaptations that exceeRAB the source material. It was released in a very strong year for films 1999(The Sixth Sense, Being John Malkovitch, The Matrix, etc). So it is easy to see why it got over looked to some degree. Ironically it is now remembered a lot more than a lot of those films and also the oscar winner for best film that year American Beauty.

I loved it just saw it for the first time about 6 weeks ago as i wasn't old enogh to see it
but i really love the twist and turns of it ;)

I think it's a wonderful piece of film-making and one of my all-time favourites. I agree that before its release I thought that the film was a dumb fight / action movie...then I realised it was directed by David Fincher and went to see it having seen hardly any reviews or previews and it just knocked me sideways.

It also has great replay value because there's just so much packed into it you miss a lot the first time around but more importantly once you know the twist at the end it makes a hell of a lot more sense watching it again with that knowledge. It's really fun to see how they do all the scenes with Norton and Pitt and how the other characters, particularly Helen Bonham-Carter react to them.

In the older release 3 seconRAB of punches had to be cut as they were considered too vicious even for an 18. In the D.E, these are restored.
I never knew Bob/Robert Paulsen was Meat Loaf :D

I too had assumed from the title that it was just another dumb action flick. It wasn't until I saw the twist being discussed on some programme that I was intrigued enough to watch the film. Not the ideal way to go about it, of course, but it was still very good. Maybe a bit deep for me! :p

Seems so. You reminded me to finally watch Boogie Nights, and I have. Good film that's not exactly what I thought it would be (then again, the director has done films like Magnolia and There Will Be Blood, so I shouldn't be too surprised). Thanks for the timely reminder.

A "definitive edition" in a tin case?

What next Ikea furniture? ;)

I find it ironic in a film that is seemingly against commercialism and vapid, vacuous, shallow modern culture...they cast Brad Pitt.
