Fight Club - what are your views?

I just watched Fight Club on the Definitive Edition DVD (its the 2nd time I've seen it), and thought it was brilliant. Excellent film
Really powerful performances from Ed Norton and Brad Pitt.
Fight Club: 5/5
The
twist still felt surprising. I think it is that Tyler and Ed Norton are the same person (sort of) - Tyler Durden is his "dark side", thats why everyone thinks Ed Norton's character is actually Tyler.
Is that right?
What are your views on the twist/film? Is it nonsense or a modern classic? (I'd say the latter as its very good). Can twist films work?

I like Tyler's spoof warning at the start of the DVD when it loaRAB, what does it actually say?

Brilliant film, haven't watched it in a while, but might just pop it in this weekend if I find myself with a few hours and nothing to watch. Twist was hinted at now and again, but enough was shown to completly cover it so it is a surprise when you find it out and then spend 10 minutes thinking about it in your head and missing what happenRAB in the film after it's revealed!

I have the 2 disc edition, is the Definitive Edition and even newer release? What's different, if anything, about it?

Paddy :D

The newer "Definitive Edition" comes in a tin case and has all 4 commentaries from the US Region 1 SE (as opposed to 2 on the older release), and is also UNCUT :)

I personally thought it was OK. My friend told me about it and really REALLY hyped it up I then watched it and thought... meh. I need to watch it again. The one thing I don't understand is
How does Ed Norton survive but Brad Pitt die I have never understood surely if one dies they both die and if one survives they both survive

Well, I damn well know when someone or something's being pretentious, and if someone else thinks I think it's 'above my station' then they can shove it. Like I care what they think!

I fell asleep about 15 minutes from the end of this film :D

I will definately watch it again if it's on. Sadly it seems to be a rarety on TV.

At least it cured you of any insomnia issues you had at the time. ;)

It was on a few times two months or so ago on FilmFour. Then again, that's not very helpful, unless you have a time machine.

:D Ooops.
I found the bit where everyone starts chanting "His name is Robert Paulsen" really creepy - interestingly, there was a guy named Rob(ert) Paulsen, who provided the cartoon voice of Raphael in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles :p

Well, just for a change, I thought it pretentious tosh with a surprise ending that isn't, as you could see it coming a mile off.

Each to their own, of course.

It's one of my favourite films. I really like it and every time I watch it I catch a new single frame "pop up".

I agree to some extent. I waited a year before watching it again. Once you are aware of the ending everything during the film relates to that making it slightly less surprising. It's still a great film, though.

Any film that has Meat Loaf in it growing a pair of tits has got to be good.
It's a fine film but you have to suspend belief BIGTIME throughout :D

Same here.

I thought from the title and the trailer it was just some yobbish "blokes movie" type film but after watching it, it's just clear the powers that be just had absolutely no idea who to aim it at or how to market it. It's a complex film with many layers and probably has a bit of something for everyone but typically, Hollywood went and marketed it in the most simplistic way possible and sucked everything out of the advertising which makes the movie so good.

It's funny, because the movie was SO hyped up during its release and I just couldn't understand why based on the title/trailers so I gave it as wide a birth as possible.

At least I've seen it now, though.
