Fido vs Rogers Wireless Speed Inquiry

I suspect I should post this over at one of the 2 carrier Forums, but wish to avoid partisanship.

I have a City Fido plan and a separate (non-contractual) Rogers data plan in Vancouver. I'd like to drop the latter in order to just carry around 1 device (Nokia E61); however, I've found Rogers data to be fine in terms of speed and support.

How does Fido's data speed and support compare? Also, any guesses if either is slated for data price changes or promotions?

Here's the truth about Fido and Rogers.

Fido's data speed & quality are the same as Rogers. They literally share the SAME network. Fido is owned by Rogers after all. UMTS is coming to both, however the E61 is european UMTS, so you can forget about that.

Rogers would offer better data plans for business usage (blackberry), but the standard data options are the same between Fido and Rogers. Again, literally

They also both offer 2mb of WAP only for 5$

So in the end, you may as well stick with Fido since the City Fido plan is no longer offered and is much better than the new available plans.

Blackberry is useless anyways for non-business people, no point in being with Rogers unless you got some unmentioned reasons.

HAHA i'll accept that.

Back on topic though (sort of), and not being Canadian bear with me, is the Fido/Rogers merger similar to Cingular/ATT? In other words, is one going the way of the dodo in favor of the other?

Just curious.

Im not familiar with Cingular/ATT merger, but Fido was BOUGHT by Rogers. However, Fido stills remains a big brand and continues to be different and unique for service plans. However, additional options are all the same as Rogers.
