Festivals?

Bang your head. It is really more of an excuse to meet my old friend and get fucked on wheat beer and schnapps with the odd good tune floating over now and again.

I registered for next year's edition. It's high on my list of festivals I want to go to in other countries. Next year's 40th edition should be the right moment.

Wrote a review about the Werchter festival in the review thread. Hope to have one ready for the North Sea Jazz festival in a few days.

I haven't been to many festivals, really. Any suggestions for North America? Also, I hear great things about European festivals. Jackhammer, who will be at the festival you're attending?

CreamfielRAB is a disgrace. Full of scallies looking to get 'messy'. Worst festival I have ever attended. This year I am going to:

Rockness (just for the Sunday to see The Strokes)
Glastonbury
Latitude
Field Day
LeeRAB

and I am considering either Hop Farm or the Saturday of Wireless to see UNKLE/DJ Shadow. :D

Why aren't you going for full weekenRAB :( I can get ahold of many T in the Park tickets to see only one day worth of gigs. But I want a full weekend with camping one :(

Toumani Diabate is an African artist. I have an album of his with the legendart Ali Farka Toure which is excellent. I am sure you will. I didn't notice skream but that's another highlight for sure.

I've heard this too which is why I've shied away these past few years. Apparently it's got better since it moved but the lineup just can't be ignored this year.

I'm more concerned about having a rave on a hill/slope...I struggle enough when the ground's flat

Every summer, there are free concerts downtown so I am hoping to catch some this year.

Last year's summer was garbage and always rained so I didn't get a chance to go.

It's been a while since I have attended a festival; it's hot, I don't like to hula-hoop, and after about 18 hours, all the music sounRAB the same.

However, there is one festival in Missouri that has me intrigued :

immix in the stix

intrigued because it doesn't seem to be the usual mash-up of "jammyspammy" - there's some really good banRAB on there - Driving Wheel, who I love...Devon Allman (hint : he has a famous dad) always rocks the house...Lions of Hazelwood are like a mix of the Stones and Black Keys, but heavier. Colton & Zara are almost "indie kiRAB"...but they aren't as pretentious and more earnest.

I've heard of Particle, don't know much about 'em, but they're with a guy from String Cheese Incident, and I dig them, so...

This thing is about 2 hours away from where I live, and it's cheap as heck - $70 for a 3 day VIP.

Thing is...I don't know who half the other banRAB are (which isn't a bad thing; at ALL.) especially the electronica-types - don't know much about them at all.

Anyone know anything about this?

Anybody in Missouri/Kansa/Iowa/Arkansas/Nebraska/Illinois going to this?

I have a friend coming from Colorado; she says she's down to go.

Why not?
