Ferrets?

I have one question. How the hell do you get a ferret to calm down and stop being so hipper at night so I can sleep. I have had it for a while but I had the cage sitting on top of a dresser in my closset, but ever since I cleaned it out I put it ontop of my other dresser in my room by the wall. I had to because it was making my closet stink...lol. I just need to know how to get that thing to stop being so wild.
 
lol...I thought about the blanket over the cage thing, but they have claws and they can see in the dark. Ferrets live in caves and hunt in dark places.
 
Silly goose, do you think turning on every light is going to help him sleep any better? Trial and error, try the blanket, if it doesn't work, go with something else. Try putting a heating pad somewhere near, or under his cage. Or try a clock that ticks, just might remind him of momma and her heartbeat.

Wear his ass out during the day when you're there too.
 
Have you had it de-glanned yet? They lose most of their scent after the process.


That is quite impossible with a young ferret. Good luck though.
 
They don't sell Ferrets in the store until they are de-glanned and spayed or Nutered. Its not that young. I think its about a year old now.
 
I would say you got a good deal then, mine wasn't de-glanned when we bought him, this could just be a difference in area though. We just ended up moving his cage in the utility room of our house, so he wouldn't bother us at night.

EDIT: Get him high, ours seems to like it and he gets tired after. :cool:
 
He was only around $80, he came vaccinated, but we had to pay for his de-glanning procedure. Ferretes are pretty cool pets, we also have a hedgehog. It was the only way to convince my gf not to get another cat after our last one ran away(I hate cats).
 
I wanted to get a Chinchila. I also had a small dwarf rabbit that was pretty cool in looks with a blue eye and a brown eye but that thing was evil. I got rid of that and then thats when I got my ferret. I ended up choosing that over the chinchila...lol.
 
haha yes i have a ferret.. had him for a couple years now.. they are so much fun and i had the same problem as you trying to get him to go to sleep durnig the night when i wanted to sleep.. i always found him sleeping during the day.. so id go over and wake him up ;) and then at night i would wait till he would stop... needless to say i passed out from being wiped out before he got tired... but now he is good and never wakes me up.. either that or im used to it.... hmmm :confused:
 
Ferrets are the bomb...they kick arse best pets ever id say...well best common pet....however...i dunno how the hell to calm the lil bastard down
