Female representations in movies/tv shows?

I knows there are a lot of video clips/movies and tv shows which show females in a 'negative' light. like females always being in the kitchen, looking after the kids etc. but are there any of females in a positive light?
would you say kill bill would be showing females in a 'positive' light?

I wouldn't say Kill Bill shows women in a positive light, but more in a powerful role. Positive light would be movies that show women strength (through spirit) such as:

- Silence of the Lambs (Jodie Foster as a Female Heroine)
- Alien (Sigourney Weaver as a Female Heroine)

Lately, many ladies are being cast into powerful roles so hopefully you won't be so concerned as to when you decide to tune in or watch a movie or televised show. And I wouldn't really discern what you call 'negative light' attributes as horrible, but more as motherly. Negative light for women would be roles like Disaster Movie.
 
No, not Kill Bill. That just reinforces the negative stereotypes with irony. I would recommend Frances McDormand in Fargo, Sally Field in Places in the Heart, or Sigourney Weaver in the Alien saga, to mention a few.
