I just noticed that a few days ago i got a pea-sized bump on the inside of my labia minora. it hurts really bad! and to make matters worse, i just started my period and inserting and removing tampons just makes it bigger, redder, and MORE PAINFUL! i have no idea what the bump is so thats question #1. and then #2 is how do i get rid of it? and #3...how do i keep myself from getting one again. this is the second time ive had one and its really NO fun! thanks so much for your help!
btw i'm a virgin. and, yes, i shave, but not that far. thanks for the answers so far. =)
and before the bump like fully showed up, i could feel a little, i dont know, like piece of hard...stuff in there? like under the skin? kinda felt like a grain of sand or something under the skin. i know it wasnt sand or anything like that, im just trying to explain how big and hard it felt. thanks again=)

I have had that before! No fun. It didn't last too long for me, but I used a very warm washcloth on it and it helped. Just hold it there for several minutes, several times per day. Do you shave there? If so, it's probably an ingrown hair. If not - then I think you should talk to your doctor or GYN.

Well, do you shave? If you do it could be an ingrown hair. If so, a better alternative could be just trimming down there instead of completely shaving.

Are you sexually active? If you are, it could be a sign of an STD so you may want to get it checked out.

It's more than likely an ingrown hair though. They usually go away on their own in a week or two.

EDIT: Yeah, the hard feeling under your skin usually is an ingrown hair. Why don't you try googling "vaginal ingrown hair" or something similar and see what pictures of it look like. That should help a bit :) Even if you don't shave all the way in that area, it can still happen. Good luck!

There are several things it could be. One it could be a clogged lubrication gland. It could also be an STD like herpes. I don't know if you are sexually active or not. I would definitely go to the doctor next time you have one. They can tell you. If it is a clogged gland, a warm bath can help.
