Every night around 8:30pm to 12AM my bettas are always acting strange. My Red male betta always go up to the surface and open his mouth, I think he's trying to blow bubbles, but he can't because I think he's still young. He does this every night and he gets really angry then hides in his cave for a long time.. My female betta always looking depressed everytime the male betta is hiding. I don't know much about betta but I know they can't be kept together.. I have a divider for them, and they always communicate throughout the days, but when is night time they always act strange. The female betta is way bigger than my male betta, but I think she likes him.. I think he likes her too, but something it's not right. I don't want to breed them and have little betta babies.. I just like to keep them in the divider and let them communicate. They are healthy, and eat like pigs but every night they are always acting strange. Should I release the dividers, and let them touch each other but keep a close eye on them? Again, I don't want little betta babies.. I think my female betta is ready to breed, but my male not because there's no betta nest, but he does like her.. Should I take the divider out and see what happens?
They both flares at each other during the day, but at night time; both of them always become quiet.. One is angry, and the other is always sad because the male betta hides in the cave cause he can't blow bubbles.
Once the male betta hides in the cave, he is always peeking at the female betta. I just don't get it.. I'm confused. The female wants him to come out, but he doesn't. He just stay in the cave for a really long time until I tap on the tank glass or something. I have a really clear divider that makes them see each other like they are in together.
April.. They are in the same tank with dividers. Both of them are like husband and wife. I can't separate them. When I do, one of them gets lonely and looks for a friend. I'm serious.
And just for the record.. It is not the male betta that is dominant. My female betta is the one who's flaring, and chasing my male betta eventhough they can't get through each other.
You guys need to read the whole story before answering.. Serious.. You know how many same answers I get from different questions about betta? Yes, I know they are not meant to keep together, but I always have a close eye on them if one of them starts nipping then I can just divide them quickly. The tank is in front of me at all times for crying out loud. I just want to put them together to see what really happens because they always be acting strange at night time..
Not one person answer my question. You guys just repeat yourself. My question is why do the male betta act strange and hide in his cave whenever he goes up to the surface and can't blow a bubbles. Why is my female betta look sad when he can't blow bubbles? Why does she keeps staring and waiting at his cave and keep waiting until he comes out then look happy again? Why?
