fire people and help China? Importing Chinese cars with our tax dollars and closing hundreds of dealerships with no notice. I feel dirty, because it's money taken out of my pocket that's doing this. America is poorer today, even if these semi-private industries become solvent.
If you weren't awake, GM announced it was importing more cars built in China to sell in the US.
If UAW is the problem, why is the most successful car plant in the US a UAW Toyota plant in California? You've been drinking kool aid.
 
Well what would you prefer, that these companies go out of business and everyone is out of work? We are quite literally talking about the very survival of these corporations. The dealer networks are too big, way too big. Too many dealers makes them uncompetitive. The unionized American factory worker has also priced his/herself out of the market which is what is driving the move towards exporting jobs.

I work across the street from a large auto plant. 3 years ago that plant employed a UAW enforced over-bloated workforce of about 3,000 people making an average of $30/hour. These folks would come into my store all the time. Not a one of them was worth half that amount of money and the plant was bleeding red ink. So the company decided to buy them all out and replace them with about 900 new workers making $20/hour. Funny how the plant is now profitable again and at least some jobs stayed.
 
The real problems are most of these dealerships will open back up or make a transition over to foreign car dealerships. So much for promoting American based vehicles as they are readily available and accessible for the taking.. AHHHH!!! Sooooooo!!!!!!!
