Hm, I was being kind. No one called you a noob in the mean sense. You are, in fact, new to the forum. Therefore a noob. If you want to get along with people here you won't take offense to people not agreeing with your musical preferences. We're all a little bit elitist here even if we don't admit to it openly.

It's also not very becoming if someone posting on a forums to talk about the "nerdiness" of others. The internet is no longer a place for nerRAB. The common use of internet slang is no longer unique to what society considers a "nerd." Due to the advent of instant message and user friendly searching techniques, internet slang is no longer a segregated convention as it was 3 or 4 years ago. In summary, mass digital communication has changed the boundaries of what one would consider "nerdy".

Although I'm new and I hope that all the popular music audiophiles on a site like this have sat down and really listened to this song, I must say that for the last few months I have really been thinking - "We Are The Champions" by Queen could be the greatest song of all time. Now, I'm not usually one to get into this whole "greatest thing ever" crap, but if I was to be one, I think I could mount a surmountable argument for this f--king hit of a song!

If the point of a song is to sonically describe feeling, emotion, and/or passion in 3-5 minutes, I cannot think of a song that better does this than this one. There it is - the feeling of winning, laid out in a wonderfully built chord progression, excellent yet simple and easy to understand lyrics, sung by a great vocalists, with great use of harmony ("go on and on and on and on..."), and great production... In fact, this song is so good, you can play when you win something stupid like a game of checkers and feel like man for five minutes, lol... "I just beat your ass in checkers... we are the champions!" It just hits that feeling. In fact, I've read that in several polls taken across the world, it is the worlRAB, most loved song...

Now, popular media (TV, Movies...) has turned this song into somewhat of a gimmick (The Mighty Ducks Trilogy comes to mind recently), but I think the quality of this song is so high that it's important to listen to it outside of that context and really just realize how good this song is... so turn up your system, open up your ears, and enjoy Freddie Mercury's classic tune... One of the best if not it...

^ Not by a long chalk sunshine.

I could go into a long drawn out post explaining exactly why and citing examples of far superior music...but I can't be arsed.

We`re basing the best song of all time judging from whats played at sporting events now?

Actually using your arguement I would say that happy birthday to you is the best song of all time.

It's a good tune that definately has stood the test of time.

"Happy Birthday dear *insert name here*...happy birthday to you"

Flexible too.

I like "When You Wish Upon A Star" and "You Are My Sunshine."

Maybe Dark Circle should try to write something in that vein and then he might be a happier bunny.

Are you slow? lol

Did you need read what I was saying at all? lol

First off, I even predicted that that pop culture whores (my friend here is a prime example) would not even have the open mind to look past what popular media has connected with the song (being played at sporting events) and actually look at it as a PIECE OF MUSIC... A good tune is a good tune...What the hell does it matter where its played or who plays it?

Actually, using my argument... it still is one of the best songs of all time. You see, in modern debate, we use "examples" like when I mentioned these funny things called "HARMONY", "CHORD PROGRESSIONS", "PRODUCTION"...

I normally hear "Simply The Best" for sporting events, I'd prefer "We Are The Champions", more people get up and shake their fists triumphantly in the air, and I think it's pi$$ funny to see idiots doing that. hahaha. I can't say I think the song is that great though.

Are you serious? lol Y'all are funny, little forum nerRAB with your forum slang, lol. "You're a noob". Do you seriously talk this in real conversation? That would be quite sad and laughable. Haha man y'all are hilarious

I would say Bohemian rhapsody is a way better song. The lyrics in we are the champions are so self congratulatory that I can barely tell whether Freddie Mercury was kidding or serious when he wrote that song. I kind of like it, but seriously I have to laugh every time I hear it.
