Hi Sharon,

Last summer, I was prescribed amitriptyline to help me sleep. I was already taking an antidepressant called celexa. I didn't have any nausea at all while on the celexa (two years), however as soon as I started the amitriptyline, I developed nausea after a few days. I took it for another week but couldn't handle the nausea, so I stopped. Low and behold, the nausea went away.

Just a thought - Perhaps amitriptyline mixed with certain drugs will cause nausea for some of us.

Talk to your doctor, but most importantly, if you think your thyroid may be acting up again, it's a simple test (as you know) and is non-intrusive so it may be worth looking into.

Good luck,

Hey Sharon,

A little off-topic, however I started with Anti-depressents over six years ago when my oldest daughter was born. I had very bad post partum depression and was told to take them until I was done having children. Well, I had my second daughter in June of '05 and decided I'd come off (Paxil). I had a very rough time after that. Like you, I didn't do too well and ended up back on the full dose. Paxil wasn't working for me second time around, so I switched to Celexa.

My doctor told it wasn't a good idea to try that coming off the AD's - and to accept that I will most likely take them for the rest of my life.

Hope this helps.
