Well, I tried the Human Centipede the other day. Umm, right, okay it was sort of "amusing" watching the utterly mad German scientist standing there with a riding crop shouting at his monstrous creation "Feed her, feed her".
People under the Stairs. Everett McGill is superb in it. Scary as hell, but funny too.
Return of the Living Dead (1985) This one makes me laugh and my skin creep. Punks, Undertakers and Warehouse hanRAB take on the Zombies. Also has a candidate for "Sexiest Unknown"...
And not sure how far back you want to go. But have you considered any 50s B&W. The original "Thing from Another World", or "Them", about giant ants?
Not sure if it is really Horror, but John carpenter did a good few quirky films that dont leave you drained, They Live, The Fog, Prince of Darkenss.
Child's Play 1, 2, 3 and Bride Of Chucky (parts 2 and Bride Of Chucky in particuler) Brain Damage (1988) (you have to see that) The Blob (1988) (better than the original!) The Burbs Dolly Dearest (descent blatent Chucky rip-off) Frogs Ice Cream Man (starring Clint Howard)
Both Tremors and The Blob (1988) are the epitome of feel good horror.
