My betta has been getting constipated for a while, or whatever it is that makes him float at the top of the water on his side. I tried giving him the pea and he won't eat it. I only give him an epsom salt bath after about a week of not eating anything and within a day he'll be swimming just fine. This happens after I feed him every single time. what's wrong with him?

Sounds like his swim bladder might be out of whack. What kind of foods are you feeding him? a proper type of food is probably needed. I love the ocean nutrition betta pellets, and I also feed mine the odd treat of bloodworms or brine shrimp.

Swim bladder is very hard to cure, peas can help if the fish will eat them. Most of the time when their swim bladder is acting up, either it goes away on it's own, they live like that for a long time before dying, or they only live a short time and die.

What is your maintenance regime like? And it would be good to know the types and brands of food you have tried on him.
