That only matters to the police being able to stop "for any reason", which I doubt would happen anyway and everyone already agrees that's unconstitutional.

You don't have a "civil liberty" to not have to prove your right to legally work in the United States when applying for a job.
 
exactly. i dont understand why the race card is being thrown around as well. this seems like a black and white issue, if you are illegal, and found to be illegal, you will be deported. is harboring illegal immagrants illegal?

I guess I shouldn't have inserted that little personal quip of mine. I feel like whenever I bring up the fact that I am staunchly against illegal immigrants being here, I immediately get my credibility attacked and told it's because I am racist.

It's a tricky situation, because on the one hand, racists obviously push an anti illegal immigrant agenda, but just because they are racist doesn't necessarily mean they are wrong on this particular issue. I agree that state legislation (especially the recent bill proposed by AZ) definitely have racial overtones, but it's hard to completely dismiss their logic...given they are in the southwest and there are some-odd 30 million illegal immigrants of hispanic/south american origin concentrated in that general area. While this gives AZ NO excuse to pass this kind of legislation, I can certainly understand the logic.

I like your idea of giving local law enforcement more access to ICE/DHS, but I fear that will not be enough. Currently, I don't believe the ICE/DHS has the fiscal capacity to handle the current load of illegal immigrants. Perhaps increasing their budget by a few hundred percent and vastly increasing their man-power would help...
 
What's not to understand?

The vocal group of people "against" illegal immigration (poor choice of wording, I don't think you'd find many people "for it") are overtly racist. The state laws being implemented to corabat illegal immigration have generally reeked of racial profiling and infringing the rights of legal immigrants and citizens.

That same vocal group, whether they be a minority or majority, is also generally poorly informed about illegal immigration (see the tax issue in this thread).
 
It already happened in Arizona. That was one of the largest points of contention, and the reason their law was largely neutered before being passed.



You're right. Illegals are already doing it with fake SSNs all the time. They're even paying taxes too.

if they have fake SS, deductions are taken out...and legal citizens in the same tax bracket receive most of these payments back in tax refunRAB.

illegals do not get these.
in addition, SS withholding goes into the pool....and are never paid back to the fake ss card holder.

there is an interesting study out there showing we save a considerable amount of revenue by NOT allowing them to become legal and allowing them to work under the radar. They actually put more into the system than take out even after correcting for medical and schooling costs.

It's an issue because of progressives and their white guilt. Minorities want immigration to bolster their political power and economic relevancy. Whites go along with it because they don't want to be labelled "racist".

If you really want to try to frame this as a race war, you're still a fucking idiot because white people are going to 'lose' as it is because they're not breeding enough with one another, but I couldn't care less about being the minority come 2050. Being against illegals coming here has nothing to do with race, idiot. I know that's the first thing supporters of them like to suggest because playing the race card gives you a lot of power amongst a crowd of white guilt ridden faggots, but let's try to go beyond the 1 layer politics you're used to. You know nothing about my political stances beyond illegal immigration, nothing about my personal experiences with the system and how I've seen how first hand they are fuck things up, etc.
