Federal Judge Blocks Alabama Illegal Immigration Law

I agree with you. However, I'd like to point out I never suggested military security clearance background checks or building a "great wall" along the border.

I'm very interested in what your response would be to the second half of that post?

so how would you know they are a net drain?

my point, the criticisms you would give to that study would equally weigh on the alternative argument. right?

Which would require closing the borders and allowing select immigrants into the country to stand a chance of working in your Hopey Changey dreamy way.

I'm also right when you look at it from the perspective of protecting the civil liberties of legal residents of the United States.

But hey, at least you can admit to being a xenophobe. Honestly, that's more than most can do.

This law "reeks of racism". I know so because someone that has a vested interest in the case and works at the ACLU said so in a press release.

So...if it's against the constitution to secure our nation from illegal immigrants looking to take advantage of taxpayers...how is that not enforcing systematic looting of the American people?

Yeah that's where you fall back to when you have nothing else: the law "reeks" of racism, but you can't really explain why. You can't argue disparate impact until you see it in action and you can't argue racist legislative intent unless you also think states don't have a legitimate interest in maintaining the rule of law.

And I don't care about what the vocal group thinks. I have non-racist reasons for disliking illegal immigration and I'm plenty educated for everyone in this thread about constitutional law and economics if anyone actually has a good argument.

We obviously need immigrant labor. If we allow enough people to enter the country legally to fill that market, it's logical that we would have less people trying to cross illegally. Lowering the volume of illegal immigration would allow us to better prevent it.
