favourite TV impressionist

We used to play a game based on Eddie Large when we were drunk. You had to try and name an impression he could do. I reckon we got up to about 8.

People have mentioned Jan Ravens & Julia Stephenson both very good. What about Kate Robbins? She is fantastic though not seen her in ages.

On a sociological note, he did an awful lot of Trades Union Leaders (Vic Feather, Len Murray etc) who, at the time, were as famous as Katie Price is now.
Who, now, would be able to name the General Secretary of the TUC, let alone recognise an impression thereof?
Oh, how the mighty are fallen! :-)

There was another impressionist, from the same era ..... Peter somebody (?). Someone tell me his name, otherwise I'll be awake all night :-)

Goodwright!

I think Bremner is probbly the best but he's kind of stick in the political satire section whereas Culshaw is free to do general celebs.

McGowan is good but his face makes it difficult to pull of visual impressions.

Debra Stevenson really impressed me with her impressions. I didn't realise it was one of her skills until her show last year.[/QUOTE]

Me too. Its not just her voices-her Kylie on the Impressions Show(hotpants and all) was quite fabulous.

All very true. The Thatcher era really did for Mike-he did not last long into the eighties as comedy and entertainment began to become less cosy. Your right about the trade unionists -as well known as top politicians and top entertainers. As I said before though, Mike was never into hurting peoples feelings and his skits were just innocent pantomime stuff.

Phil Cool was very funny and had forgotten about Paul Melba
Saw the Bros.Lees live and they were very good. As stated not
the best impressionists but tremendous with a live audience

Wasn't there a chap called Johnny Moore(?) who impersonated singers?
Also very good with voice impressions is Chris Barrie
Of course in the Eddie Large school of impressionists we have
Les Dennis and Bobby Davro
