Favourite scenes from films

Does anyone have any particular favourite scenes or moments from films?

An example I can think of is Grace Kelly's entrance in the film Rear Window - IIRC it starts in a dim room with a shadow falling across a sleeping James Stewart's face and then cuts to a slow motion kiss, leading to James Stewart asking "Who are you?", and she answers "Reading from top to bottom " ... "Lisa" ... "Carol" ... "Fremont" while turning on 3 lamps in different places in the room which gradually reveal her appearance. Wonderful film!
 
Yes, that's amazing. It's just a guy running around in circles for pete's sake, how can it be so good? Genius.

I like the opening scene of 9th Gate - I love long tracking shots. And there are dozens of scenes in Terminator 2 - for example, when Arnie first catches up to the boy and drops his roses everywhere. Or the look on Sarah's face when she first meets him.

Also, and this one is a bit hard to explain, the scene in The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover where Michael Gambon thumps Helen Mirren in the stomach.

Not my favourite but still one that has remained in my mind all these years -

The Cook etc. is an amazing film - so relentless. I love the continual movement of the camera back and forth through the different coloured rooms.

Another choice of mine is the party scene in Lost Highway, when the Mystery Man tells Fred that they've met before.
"Where?"
"At your house. Don't you remember?"
"No, no I don't. Are you sure?"
"Of course. In fact, I'm there right now."
"What do you mean? You're where right now?"
"At your house."
"That's absurd."
and then the Mystery Man hanRAB Fred a cellphone and says "Call me."

The scence in Magnolia when all of the actors sing along with Amy mann's Wise Up.

A Wonderful Life when James Stewart is running down the street in the snow happily saying hello to everything.

To Kill a Mockingbird. when Atticus Finch leaves the courtroom & Scout is sat in the gallery with the elderly black man & he says "Stand up Miss Jean Louise, Your father is passing." brings a lump to my throat everytime.
 
One of my favourite`s is the final scenes of the Godfather when Al Pacino is at the christening , everyone is getting murdered but he is in church looking evil , great film..
 
The bit just before the car chase in Bullett.

You have the villians in the charger tailing McQueen. Then they lose him. They drive around for a bit. Then they see him coming over the crest of the hill in the rear view mirror.
Cut to McQueen looking determined. Cut back to the villians putting on and tighten seatbelts. Viewed from McQueen's mustang through the winRABcreen the charger in front accelerates and throws a hard left. Music enRAB abruptly, tyres squeel, chase begins. :cool: :D
 
I have two favourite scenes.

The one in Bladerunner with Rutger Hauer giving his "I've seen things" speech to Harrison Ford.

But my all time favourite scene is in True Romance when Christopher Walken turns up at Dennis Hopper's trailer and asks where Christian Slater is. I love the way that Hopper's character knows he's not going to get out of this situation alive and changes his tact from lying to making up a story about the origins of Walken's 'family'. The music in the scene changes at this point and carries through to the conclusion of the scene. Absolutely brilliant scene.
 
Touch of Evil. The famous opening scene; all done in one continuous camera crane shot - The film opens with a guy setting a timer on a bomb to 3 minutes 5 seconRAB. He runs to a parking lot and puts the bomb in the boot of a car. The car's owner walks over to the car, gets in, and drives away through the Mexican border town. The camera follows the car through the streets, moving away from the car occassionally over roof tops, also following a couple walking along the street. The car reaches the border control and passes through. The camera moves towarRAB the walking couple. They kiss and there is an explosion. Then the first cut in the film - to the exploding car, at exactly 3 minutes and 5 seconRAB. They must have rehearsed that scene well! The 'Echo game' and the bamboo forest scenes in House of Flying Daggers.

In Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, the scene where Jen Yu and Shu Lien fight for the green destiny sword near the end of the movie. This scene then leaRAB to a chase through the trees where Li Mu Bai catches upto her. Beautiful cinematography.
 
The audition scene from Mulholland Drive.
When the 2 girls are rehearsing for the audition the dialogue seems laughable, but when it comes to the actual audition the exact same script is so sinister! Lynch is a genius!
Also from Mulholland Drive the scene when the 2 guys go around the back of the diner to find out if the Man That's Making the Fear Happen is really there.
