Mine Has to be BLADE RUNNER ( ORIGINAL_MOVIE_POSTER ) starring HARRISON FORD and the very lovely SEAN YOUNG . She is georgous isnt she.

Anyway the film is great.

Plot Synopsis
-------------

Opening crawl from the movie:

Early in the 21st Century, THE TYRELL
CORPORATION advanced Robot evolution
into the NEXUS phase -- a being virtually
identical to a human -- known as a replicant.
The NEXUS 6 Replicants were superior
in strength and agility, and at least equal
in intelligence, to the genetic engineers
who created them.
Replicants were used Off-world as
slave labor, in the hazardous exploration and
colonization of other planets.
After a bloody mutiny by a NEXUS 6
combat team in an Off-world colony,
Replicants were declared illegal
on earth -- under penalty of death.
Special police squaRAB -- BLADE RUNNER
UNITS -- had orders to shoot to kill, upon
detection, any trespassing Replicants.

This was not called execution.
It was called retirement.

A number of replicants have made it to Earth, and ex-Blade Runner Rick
Deckard (Harrison Ford) is coerced into tracking them down.

So whats your favourite?

Sorry to say I just didn't like Bladerunner at all - but I know I'm way in the minority on that one...

Some of my favourites (in no particular order):

  • Metropolis
  • Things to Come
  • Fahrenheit 451
  • Tron
  • Time Bandits
  • AI (ducks for cover on this one...)
  • War Games
  • Star Wars - A New Hope (original version)
  • Rocky Horror

Alien
Close Encounters
Silent Running
Blade runner
2001
Logan's Run
Planet of the Apes (the original)
Day the Earth Stood Still
Dark Star

and more recently, I quite enjoyed Event Horizon, and Pitch Black

Insanity! Who couldnt like Blade Runner :)

TRON is a great choice by the way. Those 80's graphics are great. I'm quite partial to a bit of 80's computer gaiming myself....
:D

Pitch Black is an awesome film. One of my favourites. Vin Diesel is excellent. Hasnt he made another film based on the riddick character?

"Favourite sci-fi films from the last 20 years"

Hate to be a pedant but Blade Runner was released in 1982, so it's over 20 years old.

Great film, though

Guys where did you get the impression I would be so pedantic?! heh heh, anyway I'm not! 20 years/30 years whenever, just a guide. I know there is some real cult stuff that would be missed if you followed my topic.....

I will try and edit it....

Close Encounters Of The Third Kind
Dune
Contact
Independance Day
2001 Space ORABsey
Star Wars: Return Of The Jedi
Battlefield Earth
Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within
Buck Rogers in the 25th Century
Tron
The Cube
Mission To Mars

:D

Well, I think most of the 'classic' films have already been mentioned, some of mine:-

The Empire Strikes Back.
Back to the Future Part II.
Contact.
2001 and 2010.
Alien.
Predator.
Starship Troopers.
The Terminator.
Star Trek: The Motion Picture (the long uncut version)

On a lesser note, I enjoyed Minority Report (even though I would have liked it to be longer). Frequency is a nice film and Outland, Hollow Man, I-robot are watchable, Armageddon and The Abyss are good too.

Probably more of them.. but that's what I can come up with so far..
