Favourite Movie Scores & Soundtracks

Which are your favourite film scores or soundtracks? Are they from your favourite films or are they stand-alone good?

For me, my favourite score will always be John Williams' SW Ep IV. I can't see or hear the 20th Century Fox logo & fanfare without launching into the SW theme. ESB & RotJ get honourable mentions, but NH had all the main elements. Of the prequels, Duel of the Fates from Ep 1 is an awsome stand-alone track but the rest are forgettable for me.

All three LotR scores are great with some beautiful stand-alone songs, in particular Annie Lennox's Into The West.
Gladiator has some good tracks and Vangellis' Blade Runner is a supreme example of early 80's technopop.

I also have a fondness for the original Mortal Kombat film soundtrack. A great mix of 90's house & metal.

LOTR was brilliant, was really impressed by its score on a recent repeat viewing of the trilogy. Garden State has a brilliant soundtrack too, and I quite like Juno's soundtrack.

LOTR is a masterpiece
Pearl Harbour has a beautiful score too - no matter what people say about the film (I love it though:D) You can't slate the music from that film, just beautiful :)

Soundtracks:

Magnolia
Cruel Intentions
Moulin Rouge

Scores:

One Upon a Time in the West
Last of the Mohicans
Superman
The Red Violin
Millions

I love lots of other ones too but only for individual themes - the above, I could listen again and again.

All 3 LOTR films
Pirates of the Caribbean
Iron Man
Phantom Menace
Batman Begins
Transformers

Only recently started getting soundtracks, so thats probably why all mine are from recent films.

The Piano
Once upon a time in America
The Mission
Shcindlers List

Special mention for
Trainspotting
Pulp fiction
The Crow

as I listenend to all of these to death when I was younger

Pirates of the Caribbean is too Hans Zimmer, especially in the Gladiator realm... he did produce it though or something. Fog Bound is the standout track on that score, everything is meh. Oh no, track 13 is quite good, can't remember the name.

I adore lots of scores and soundtracks, so will pick one for each that comes into my head first. Any Quentin Tarantino soundtrack. Score would have to be The Sweet Hereafter.

Nothing tops Lord of the Rings for me. Howard Shore is a genius! I play them more often than any other.

Others that I like are: Doctor Zhivago; The Da Vinci Code; The Pianist; P.S. I love You; Chariots of Fire; Gone With The Wind; Dances With Wolves; Harry Potter.

Juno has a great soundtrack
As does Bridgit Jones (sp) and Sweeney Todd.

Filmscores: ET, harry potter, pirates of the caribbean, batman and american beauty

I've always liked the soundtrack to New Jack City.

As I have a fondness for heavily synthesized 80's music I enjoy the Beverly Hills Cop and Ghostbusters soundtracks also.
