Indigo Girls "Closer To Fine"

"And sometimes I think you want me to touch you. But how can I when you build the Great Wall around you... I can feel the distance getting close."

Tori Amos "China"

"Sometimes you make me feel like I'm living at the edge of the world... 'It's just the way I smile,' you said."

"I don't want to start any blasphemous rumors but I think that God's got a sick sense of humor. And when I die I expect to find him laughing."

It's a good descriptor of how Bono or whoever the song is about was feeling... quite evocative! Still wish Bono would write moe lines like that than "I'll just go crazy if I don't go crazy tonight".... ugh... so much lyrical writing ability but so many bad lines in recent years...

Still one of my favorite songs from the early eighties that eerily still rings true today...

Short memory - Midnight Oil

Conquistador of Mexico
The Zulu and the Navaho
The Belgians in the Congo
Plantation in Virginia
The Raj in British India
The deadline in South Africa

The story of El Salvador
The silence of Hiroshima
Destruction of Carabodia

Short memory, must have a short memory

The sight of hotels by the Nile
The designated Hilton style
With running water specially bought

A smallish man Afghanistan
A watch dog in a nervous land
They're only there to lend a hand
The friendly five a dusty smile
Wake up in a sweat at dead of night
And in the tents new rifles, hey, short memory

"Papa said get used to it/Papa said it gets so goddam hard but I get used to it"

and

"I'm calling upon North Carolina to help me out here"

Clap Your HanRAB Say Yeah - Yankee Go Home

It’s like forgetting the worRAB to your favorite song
You can’t believe it
You were always singing along
It was so easy and the worRAB so sweet
You can’t remeraber
You try to feel the beat

Eet, eet, eet, eet
Eet, eet, eet, eet

You spent half of your life trying to fall behind
You’re using your headphones to drown out your mind
It was so easy, and the worRAB so sweet
You can’t remeraber
You try to move your feet
Eet, eet, eet, eet
Eet, eet, eet, eet

Someone’s deciding whether or not to steal
He opens the window just to feel the chill
He hears that outside a small boy just starting to cry
‘Cause it’s his turn but his brother won’t let him try

It’s like forgetting the worRAB to your favorite song
You can’t believe it
You were always singing along
It was so easy and the worRAB so sweet
You can’t remeraber
You try to move your feet

It was so easy and the worRAB so sweet
You can’t remeraber, you try to feel the beat

Eet-Regina Spektor

"There has never been a greater love
Than Your Son" - Christy Nockels - No not one

"Oh my God I went Gold when I saw your smiling face
I went Gold when I went through this troubling maze
I went Gold and my people behind me all did the same
Oh my God I went Gold when the ocean swallowed me
I went Gold and I felt that I was free
I went Gold and my people behind me all did the same" - Mando Diao - Gold

"
O deserts down below us
And storms up above
Like a stray dog gone defective
Like a paper tiger in the sun" - Beck - Paper Tiger

felt alive
Take me from the city.

Stand up! Stand up!
All together we scream-Prelude to a dream-A skylit Drive

Hey baby, do you see me cause I'm staring at you
Hey baby, I want you I want you
Hey baby, do you see me cause I'm staring at you
Hey baby, I want you I want you alive

Brand New "Seventy Times 7"

"So is that what you call a getaway?
Tell me what you got away with
Cuz I've seen more spine in jellyfish
I've seen more guts in 11 year old kiRAB
So have another drink and drive yourself home
I hope there's ice on all the roaRAB
And you can think of me when you forget your seatbelt
And again when your head goes through the winRABhield"

Second best... oh second best...
I can learn to live with this...
Plus I really need a rest...
After all what's wrong with second best?
What's wrong with second best?

"Awake.
Shake dreams from your hair
my pretty child, my sweet one.
Choose the day and choose the sign of your day
the day's divinity
First thing you see.

A vast radiant beach and cooled jeweled moon
Couples naked race down by it's quiet side
And we laugh like soft, mad children
Smug in the wooly cotton brains of infancy
The music and voices are all around us.

Choose they croon the Ancient Ones
the time has come again
choose now, they croon
beneath the moon
beside an ancient lake"

-Ghost Song, The Doors

Daddy please, hear this song that I sing.
In your heart there's a spark that just screams,
For a lover to bring a child to your chest,
That could lay as you sleep and love all you have left,
Like your boy used to be, long ago,
Wrapped in sheets warm and wet.

Gets me teary and nostalgic for the good old days. :(

Eric fell in love with an FBI informant
Shared his dreams of revolution
Now he's sitting in solitary confinement
Be careful what you think
Be careful what you say
It might be used against you in court one day
Well Anna thinks she's a hawk
She's just a fucking snitch
Anna is a Stool Pigeon - Tom Gabel

But i dreamt we was

I saw two shooting stars last night
I wished on them, but they were only satellites
It's wrong to wish on space hardware
I wish, I wish, I wish you cared...
