Favourite Foriegn Language Film

Because half my DVD library is made up of foreign language it would be impossible for me to pick one out as my favourite but I have recently grown very passionate about Kurosawa's later colour films more so than his more earlier more famous ones, Kagemusha in particular.

Women on the Verge of A Mental Breakdown.

Had to watch it for Higher Spanish then write an Essay on it. It was such a good film and totally different to any english speaking film I've ever seen, not a particularly amazing storyline or anything, just really enjoyable and easy to watch.

La Haine: stunning depiction of bario life, and contains one my favorite musical moments in film (the estate DJ plays a mix of KRS One "Sound a' da' Police" and Edith Piaf "je n'regrete rien," I've used it as my ringtone for years).

Recent challenger:
The Orphanage (Le Orfanata)
I only watched this for the first time earlier this week, it's still giving me chills whenever I talk about it to people.

These spring to mind immediately. I'm sure there are others

Chungking Express
Les Diaboliques
Tin Drum
Coup de Foudre
Spirit of the Beehive
La Ceremonie
Ma Nuit Chez Maude
