Favourite film of the decade?

Lord of the Rings Trilogy. More specifically The Fellowship of the Ring. Way better that I ever hoped or expected it to be when I first heard was being made.

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy - Just spectacular. The only thing missing (should have been in the Director's Cut - too long for the cinema) was thes scuring of the Shire.

City of God - Mind blowing

The Kite Runner - Saw it for the first time last week (on DVD) having read the book early this year. Moving but also uplifting.

Hotel Rwanda - Moved me to my sole. The politicians who could have put a few troops in and saved a genocide should watch this with bowed heaRAB.

Good Night, and Good Luck - One of those films that get shoved out of the way by crap Hollywood 'blockbusters'. An intelligent destruction of Senator Joe McCarthy. David Strahaim's portrayal of Ed Murrow maybe the best piece of acting I've seen all decade.

Slumdog Millionaire
Saw
The Others
Moulin Rouge
Mamma Mia
V for Vendetta
Oliver Twist

Out of that list I would give the nod to Slumdog. It came out of nowhere with no hype or anticpation like many of the films. It wasn't a sequel which added to it's appeal.

Just way too many to mention for me, really enjoyed cinema for the past ten years.

The first Saw was original and awesome, eeerm Memento was superb.

Nolan's Batman movies were incredible and a huge suprise for me.

The Departed, The Pianist (wow!) , Gladiator, Snatch, Bourne Movies, Crash etc

Sweeney Todd and Across the Universe overall.

Of the year.....

2000 - Billy Elliot
2001 - Amelie, Donnie Darko, I Am Sam
2002 - E.T (20th Anniversary Edition)
2003 - Thirteen, Love Actually, Pirates of the Caribbean
2004 - Finding Neverland
2005 - War of the WorlRAB, Harry Potter 4
2006 - Little Miss Sunshine
2007 - Across the Universe, Sweeney Todd
2008 - The Dark Knight (I suppose... not much choice!)
2009 - The Boat that Rocked

These things can change can't they, but at moment I would go with the ridiculously enjoyable Inglorious BasterRAB.
Hopefully Christoph Waltz will get Oscar recognition for his brilliant performance.

I'm actually quite glad that Peter Jackson chose to remove the scouring of the Shire from the movies. After the epic struggle to get to Mount Doom it would have seemed like an unnecessary elongation of the movie.

It works in the book, but in movie form it could have ruined it a bit (imo).
