favourite film of all time?

When I was a child, my favourite movie was The Great Escape. I still think it's a great movie and is in my top ten; however, it has been taken over by a few others now and I don't have a favourite movie as such.

The Empire Strikes Back

Theyre my top-top three but I have a top 50ish of films I adore. ;) Not writing them all of course!

The Shawshank is up there for me too
Grease was the film I probably enjoyed most at the time 1978/9? I still think it's ok now but I'm not 10 anymore :(
Used to watch East of Eden a lot when I was younger
A Time to Kill as well :)
 
Sorry, but I think the title of this thread is misleading, no-one can say what the best film of all time is:

Surely, they have to have a good knowledge of film over the past 100 years and not just in their lifetime.
