Favourite 'Coming of age' film

Another great film is Thirteen. Evan Rachel Wood is terrific, it's a real eye-opener and I'm sure it's probably scared the hell out of some people, parents especially.

I am not sure if they are coming of age movies because they are violent, but they do feature teenagers/children.

Breaking Away 1979

Haven't seen it for a while, so can't remember who is in it except for Dennis Quaid and it won an Oscar for best screen play. Revolves around four young men and their attempt to win a cycle race. Brilliant, brilliant film and very funny in parts.

I also loved Spike Lee's Crooklyn. A young girl loses her mum to cancer, not really a coming of age film, but still a great watch.
