It's a Wonderful Life definitely.

I have to add this year's A Christmas Carol: it was nothing like I thought it would be and I ended up being really impressed with it.

I watched this christmassy film a couple of years back, I can't remember what it was called:(. The village/town has a competition to see who can decorate their houses the best; everyone starts fighting over christmas decorations and lights in the store, but the winner surprises everyone because they've decorated their house in an old-fashioned way. Anyone know the name of the film:D?

Oh that's what it's called. Thank you.
I saw 'A Christmas Story' once years ago, and really enjoyed it (I wouldn't say it was the best xmas film ever, either), but forgot what it was called.

I love Xmas films in general, can't really pick favourites. I used to love Santa Claus The Movie as a kid too, and actually went n bought it on DVD. Now I'm 'all growed up', I have realised how shockingly bad it is. I will still watch it though. A bit of cheese at xmas is allowed. :D

I have a few that are right up there too close to call an outright winner.

Planes, Trains and Automobiles. It is one of the funniest films ever made and Steve Martin at his very best.

Scrooged, a different take on the Dickens classic, sorry but A Christmas Carol has been made so many damn times, and all of them done the traditional way it gets stale. Scrooged however went its own way incorporating many great dark comedic moments.

Its a wonderful life, what can anyone say other than it is a true classic.
