Favourite 'Carry On' .......

Not sure which one it is but when they go on the holiday and the hotel is not finished. Is it the toilet one also?

Plus love classic Carry on Camping

I particularly like Carry on Abroad.

Stuart Farquhar: My name is Stuart Farquhar, the representative of Wundatours.
Pepe: Stupid what?
Stuart Farquhar: STUART! STUART FARQUHAR!
Pepe: Ahh, you Mr. Farqiarse.

Or...

Evelyn Blunt: Not for me thank you.
Vic Flange: Oh. Don't drink?
Evelyn Blunt: No, I tried it once and didn't like it.
Vic Flange: Smoke?
Evelyn Blunt: I tried it once and didn't like it.
Vic Flange: Strange.
Evelyn Blunt: Not at all, my daughter is just the same.
Vic Flange: Your only child, I presume!

Carry on Cleo had a good line

Infamy infamy they all got it infamy!

I actually like the black and white ones, they don't show them enough and they are sometimes dismissed because there is less inuendo and are not as smutty as the later ones. My favourite though is Carry on Cruising, I want to end up just like the old lady (Esma Cannon) - I think she steals the show in that film !!

Emmanuelle, England, Columbus - just awful

Screaming, Khyber, Teacher, Camping, Up the Jungle.

With all these shows like "It'll be alright on the night" and the popularity of extras I'm really surprised that there haven't been outtake clips from these films. I can't remember ever seeing one.

Allegedly, the Carry On outtakes are hilarious. But for some reason, probably control by the producers, they have never been released. I am not even aware they are on as extras on the DVD releases.

I'm with you on this one. It was repeated on BBC2 a couple of Saturday's back - despite having seen this many times before, I sat and watched it again!

Actually, this was one of the first Carry on flops at the box office at the time of release. Apparently it alienated the working class by the ridiculing of the unions etc. Perhaps this was seen in a slightly bad light at the time, but years later I still think it stanRAB up as one of the better films. I'm a tad biased though, as I prefer the Carry On's set in the "modern day" (of the time!) like Convenience, Matron, Girls, Loving etc...

I was trying to work out the other day why I like these films so much. Ok, no one can ever claim they are "cinematic masterpieces" (!) but they are, I guess just fun and to me always remind me of my childhood as I used to love watching these (albeit on a 'different level' not understanding the inuendo's of course!) as a child.

I guess they take me back a bit........

Carry On Up the Khyber is a masterpiece, I also really enjoy Carry On Abroad, Carry On Loving, Carry On At Your Convenience and my personal guilty pleasure is Carry on Behind, watching it always makes me feel good. As a series they are all good viewing (the terrible Emmanuel, England and Columbus excepted).

Carry On Camping
Carry On Girls
Carry On At Your Convenience

My three favourites, though not in any particular order. Plenty of childhood memories from watching them late night in the 90's. Innocent bawdy fun!

Well, I've been collecting these all week with the dreaded "Daily Mail" - which has gone in the bin without being read!!

Does anyone know why these films are sometimes presented in 16:9 Widescreen ratio whereas some (like todays 'Convenience' and Tuesdays Khyber are only 4:3? Seems odd that some are not widescreen ratio.....?

There again, for the sake of 50p on the Daily Mail I shouldn't really complain!

I still think that the early Carry Ons were the best such as:

Sergeant; Nurse; Teacher; Regardless.

As for the later ones,

Don't lose Your Head; Screaming; Khyber; Cleo and Camping.

Many of them remain classics to this day.

For me it has to be
Carry On Screaming
Carry On Spying

and then
Carry On Up The Khyber (because of the dinner party scene)
Carry On Cleo

I notice that none of the ones I like are being given away by the daily mail.... even more of a reason not to buy that paper!

Convenience was on BBC 2 last Saturday at 4pm and was in 16:9 and was also uncut. They left in the "You bastard!" scene early on and all the innuendo and two finger salutes. Perhaps what you got was the sanitised Daily Mail version of the film? :D
