Favourite British Film (Modern)

Shan of the Dead/Creep are two I immediately thought of..

Although if V for Vendetta counts - I rate that quite highly, I loved it.. Enough so that I went out and bought the book of it.

Question for anyone and everyone....In your opinion what defines a British film? What does a film need to have to make it British?
It may sound like a stupid question but I'm interested! Is it having a British director, actors, setting, what? :)

xx

These are my favourite MOST hated.

love actually
four weddings etc
bridget jones 1 & 2
knotting hill

or any other "british rom-com", or any that i've forgotten.

Thats why the british film industry is as crap as it is, and dont even get me started on Hugh grant, if he's the best actor this country has got then christ help us

:)

I would have said V is American - only because of American funding, and american producers, etc. its totally british influenced - but American paid for!

But my favourite Brit flicks are:

Nil By Mouth
Love, Honour and Obey
28 days later
The Decent
I know it aint modern but....The Wicker Man!
Shaun of te dead - theres a new Simon Peg movie coming out called Hot Fuzz!

Another great Shane Meadows film I love from a few years ago:

"A Room For Romeo Brass".

Funny and violent sums it up.

This one also has Paddy Considine, who latter starred in "Dead Man's Shoes".

Some great films being mentioned here. I was glad to see Dead Mans Shoes get so many mentions.
Also to be considered:
Sweet Sixteen
24 Hour Party People
Afterlife
Dirty Pretty Things
My summer of Love
