Favourite Anime movie?

Haha yeah, that was awesome. Rei is a legend. :D I was gutted when he got killed in the end. :(

Also love the bit where Ken punches the skyscraper and it falls on him, and he just ignores it. :D

as much as its a cliche to say Akira i did really enjoy it.

also, Ninja Scroll and i quite enjoyed Blood the last vampire...

there's a few more i cant remember the names off right now

I sincerely hope you took my advice, avoiding the horrid English dub on your introduction to this brilliant film that is. ;)

Providing that is the case, if you are at all curious, go back and sample how Setsuko sounRAB in English and utterly cringe in embarrassment at the now painfully cheesy, fake and poor American vocal performance. I'm still at odRAB as to why on earth they hired a grown woman to provide the voice in the first place. This film isn't Rugrats.

Oh i know what you mean. I watched the film in Jap with subs and the voices were brilliant. I watched the extras after and the producer said he wanted a young girl to do the voice and he made the right decision. I listened to the english dub afterwarRAB and glad i watched the jap version. Such a fantastic film though, i couldn't help crying near the end though

It's amazing how much your opinion of a film can change based on the character's voices.

I stopped watching Turtles when the voice-actor who did Donatello stopped for some reason, and some camp, Snagglepuss-esque idiot took over.

I'd say mine are Gundam Seed and Gundam Seed Destiny. Great reflector of the crazy world leaders nowadays who are seeking only benefits for themselves and do not consider others.

Its a bit like that with Pokemon, ok i know its really a series, but they do make movies. Anyway, the new season diamond and pearl, every single voice has changed and it is just not nice watching it when you have got so used to the previous voices.

I think the reason some people are put off when voices change is because people associate anime/animation characters with their voices, one example is from Pokemon, Jesse and James from TR sound so different now and i no longer like them. TR used to be my fave bit of pokemon but now their voices have changed, its also like the character has changed.

Watched some more Ghibli films yesterday, watched Howl's Moving Castle and Princess Mononoke, loved both of them but i think i prefered Howl's

I just loved the characters, it was funny and emotional in places, and the english dub was quite good as well.

The thing I like about Studio Ghibli is the fact that for most of the film, you're left asking question after question, and so much is unexplained, then it all gets answered before the end. I love it. Everything in Howl's Moving Castle is answered in the last five minutes, which makes it feel a bit rushed, but it's certainly a trademark of Ghibli.

It took me about four viewings of Ghost In The Shell, before I really appreciated it. It took a while to understand what was going on.

The fact that I was willing to watch it a further three times at least shows that I saw SOME merit in it, even when I didn't really understand the plot.
