favorites in sports???????????

when they say he is a 4 to 1 favorite or a 12 to 1 fav to win the tittle what does it excatly mean????????
 
It has to do with odds and betting. In horse racing a 25-1 favorite means for every dollar you bet you'll get 25 back in that horse wins, in other sports, the higher the number the lowers odds they will win..a 100-3 favorite has a MUCH lower shot at winning than a 2-1 favorite.
