Favorite Style of Metal

Its not, its a sub-genre of metal. Ironically NWOBHM isn't a genre as much as a term to describe certain banRAB from an era who pretty much either played heavy metal or traditional doom in retrospect. What defines "Heavy metal" and "traditional doom" didn't really come about until later but there are obvious differences between banRAB like Witchfinder General, Pentagram, and Black Sabbath who played heavier slower pieces and Iron Maiden and Judas Priest who played more technical in your face music. The styles the two different breeRAB of metal would later influence would determine what was what.

^^^ Those are basically death metal scenes based off of the countries. Not real genres.

While I agree wiki is not reliable, i have to ask, what source IS reliable on this type of musical information? Is it like there is the official music site where analysts do research on this or something? When it comes down to it, isn't every genre made, made up by some person and everyone excepted it? It could be the same here as well except not everyone agrees with it yet.

Metal was never appealing for me, because too many metal fans/banRAB are nerdy, long-haired, World of Warcraft playing chodes who are fat and never wash themselves.

No wait, not really, because I'm not stupid enough to base what I listen to on stupid generalizations, and what the ****ty mainstream media portrays. In any event, given a choice, I'd pick mainstream rap over mainstream metal ANY time.

Well, wikipedia is a more legit site than say.... I dunno, HERE? or any other music forum filled with just as many idiots, except in this case no one will bother to clean up the mess.

I'm into math metal. Seriously though, why do people feel the need to catergorise rock music? Its all metal/rock, just listen and enjoy. Don't diss people cos they like doom as opposed to NYHC, listen and learn, go back to the 70's and listen to the Who/Sabbath/Priest etc and discover where modern metal came from. Even go back to blues and Chuck Berry to see where the Who etc came from.

That's cool, since metalcore and nu-metal aren't subgenres and are crossovers....... /anal

I like Death Metal the most, even though my collection of death metal is pretty small at the moment.

Followed by; black metal, thrash metal, heavy metal, metalcore, then nu-metal.

Because it's not as mind-nurablingly durab as power metal?

And because you don't have to be a metal head to enjoy it, you just need to have smoked weed at some point in your life.
