Favorite Songs in The Simpsons

Well, since we have a favorite songs from Family Guy, I'll start a companion thread for favorite songs in The Simpsons. Over the years this show has had plenty of great songs(three full albums worth anyways), and it's new season starts in two days as well, although who knows how many songs they will have or how good they will be.

Anyways, as far as my favorites go, the two I immediately think of are "Who Needs the Kwik-E-Mart" from Homer And Apu, and "We Put The 'Spring' in Springfield" from Bart After Dark.

I think i'll have to go with See my vest. Both the melody and the lyrics are grade A in that one.

Of course, the best musical number of all time on the show is Lisas rendition of Jazzman, but i suppose it doesn't count since it's not an original song.

My favorite is either when Homer sang the Flintstones theme song but for his family. Another favorite is the one where Willy becomes a waiter and sings to become more etiquette

"We Put The Spring in Springfield"- Not only does it come from one of my favorite episodes (Bart After Dark), but it also had some nice bits to it, nice melody, and funny lines to it.

Do the Bartman- Yeah, I know it wasn't sung in the show proper, but I like this song. I guess I liked how it's basically a biographic part about how much of a troublemaker Bart was.

Monorail- It has this nice charm to it that makes me hum this song for a few days after hearing it.

I AM SHOCKED! no one has mentioned the stone cutters song. 'we do'.

that is a great song very funny.

though i will tip my hat to apu's "who needs the quickie mart" or "spring in springfield" for quality melody.

i can still recite most of "we do" for you know.

Oh right, Talkin' Softball, that's a great song to. Also, im really nostalgic towards that song, since it comes from one of the very few Simpsons episodes i had on tape as a kid.

I enjoy the Stone Cutters' song "We Do".

Even better is the Dr. Zaius song from "Stop the Planet of the Apes".

Honorable mentions include the Flaming Moe's song, the Mayor Quimby campaign commercial, and the Canyonero SUV commercial.

In "The Otto Show," Bart goes to his first rock concert and Homer is waiting in the parking lot in his car. A riot breaks out at the concert but Homer is oblivious. Why? Because he's too busy singing along with "Spanish Flea." One of my favorite Simpson's songs.

"See My Vest" has always been my favourite. I remember reciting it to myself when I was on the subway in San Francisco, back in '99.

I'm also quite fond of the "All Singing, All Dancing" wraparounds. I'm sure I'm in the minority for that, though.

And Lisa's protest song from "Last Exit to Springfield" was great as well.

I liked "See My Vest" from "Two Dozen and One Greyhounds" best (a parody of "Be Our Guest" from Beauty and the Beast, with Burns plotting to make a greyhound fur tuxedo out of the puppies)...it has funny lyrics ( "Like my loafers?/Former gophers/it was that or skin my chauffers...")

Also love the songs from the "Mary Poppins" parody episode, especially the ending song where The Simpsons celebrate their flaws...(Homer: "Around the house,I never lift a finger...As a husband and father,I'm subpar...I'd rather drink a beer than win Father of the Year,I'm happy with things the way they are!!!")

All the songs from the Mary Poppins parody (I don't feel like typing out its long title). Especially these lines from the Moe/Barney song:

"Move it ya drunk / Or I'll blast your rear end!
I found two bucks! / Then come in my frieeeeeeend!"

I also enjoy "We Put the Spring in Springfield". Catchy stuff. Its karaoke version over the credits is one of my favorite end credits themes, too.

Finally, "Adults/Kids" from "Wild Barts Can't Be Broken". I know it's a parody and not a wholly original creation, but I love the new lyrics to it. "Channel hoppin', Ritalin-poppin' monkeys... but please don't quit the fan club!"
