Favorite Sensui?

Minoru- The charismatic manipulator.
Kazuya- The violent brute who tortues small children
Shinobu- The main man who retains purity by shifting his sins onto the others.

Now wasn't Minoru the one in control from Sensui's introduction until the second fight where Kaz takes over? I liked him because he was elegant and an interesting fighter; cold and ruthless like Kazuya but in a refined way. I also liked his martial arts style more than Shinobu who just fights like it's DBZ.

Well, Minoru was the side/personality of him that we got to see the most, so of course that's what most people would perceive his character as, for the most part (myself included). We never got to see enough of any of his other personalities aside from Shinobu (which we only saw towarRAB the end of the arc, itself), so I can't really say whether they were more interesting or not. So, yeah, going by that, I'd have to say that Minoru was my favorite part of Sensui as well, since that's the main personality that I know the character by, and Minoru did indeed make a fantastic villain, which is why Sensui is one of my favorite anime villains ever (also, Shinobu helped to make him even more interesting, when that personality of his appeared later on ).

I'd say Kazuya, since up to the point he was introduced, I thought I was starting to get Sensui. Then this guy comes out of nowhere to throw a monkey into the mix (yes, a whole monkey!), and with that weird dialogue he has, it kinda freaked me out a bit. I wasn't used to villains THIS wacked out, I mean, I could eventually figure them out. But Sensui kept me guessing until the end, and Kazuya is the one who really made me rethink my opinion on him.

Damn I love this arc.

Tough call, but I might have to go with Minoru, just for being able to asserable a team to throw people off by what he meant by the 7, he truely was the brains of Chapter Black saga. Kazuya, while badass, I mostly perceived him as someone with anger issues. My advice to him is, seek help.

But still, I wish we were able to see the other 4 forms of Sensui, maybe one of those could have been my favorite

I would have to go with Shinobu as he was the beginning and end of Sensui. He was the excellent spirit detective that went down the path that led to his demise while retaining his purity. The creation of the other six personalities was used so that he could never have to change himself to complete his goals. He was the tragic persona that people can sympathize with while Minoru and Kazuya were not. All three personalities made the best villain, but Shinobu is my favorite.

I'm ticked off we didn't get to see female Sensui. Now THAT would have been interesting. Of course, I'm going to go with Kazuya. Because I like violent sadistic people. heh heh heh

O-chan

I just love how Togashi managed to completely throw us all off with that revelation. I mean, as Minoru, I had already found Sensui to be such an interesting villain, what with how manipulative he was, and how he put Yusuke and frienRAB through far more trouble with his witty schemes alone, rather than just using brute force to do a lot of bad things (as is the current trend of most shounen villains, these days, IMO).

However, as you said, just when I thought that I had him all figured out, I found out that I really only just saw 1/7th of what makes up Sensui, and then we got to see Kazuya, followed by Shinobu (Sensui's true form). Its stuff like this that managed to make him seem even more diabolical (and of course "wacked out," as you put it ) than before, and also added a whole new layer (actually, in this case, it was 2 more ) that we got to see, making him even more complex and harder to understand than before, but even more interesting than ever. And the whole time before that, I was just thinking that the "seven" referred to the 7 psychics, when he was really just using the rest of them all along.

And ye Chapter Black arc is indeed the best story arc in any shounen series, EVER!

The final picture, taken from when he was watching the Chapter Black video, pretty much sums up why Minoru is my favorite. The careless yet elegant arrogance and cruelty. He is sitting there watching a tape of the most horrific atrocities ever committed by humanity like we'd watch a mildly interesting romantic comedy or something.

Shinobu, from what i remeraber was the one that came up with the plan in the first place. The psychic Gate Keeper is the one that sees him as pure. The fact is that he has a very tragic psychological flaw (aside from split personalities) that made him unable to see that humans aren't evil by nature and that he just saw a dark side in some. I love Sensui. As awesome and manipulative as Minoru was, Sensui's almost polite nature is a great twist. It looks like he breaks Yusuke's arm and has him shake his hand.

Personally i thought it was brilliant that the 7 that was being refered to wasn't the 7 like Sensui, Gourmet, Gamemaster, etc. but Sensui's 7 personalities.

Whie Shinobu came up with he plan of breaking into demon world and shared it with the other personalities, he was obviously lying gto...them? I dunno how it works but Kazuya and Minoru seemed to think he wanted to kill all humans. From Shinobu's deatrabroaded dialogue, he just wanted to go to demon world to die and atone for killing countless demons all his life without knowing anything about them.

It seems odd that the traumatized female personality would go along with a plan to kill every human on Earth, though.

shinobu wanted to die in demon world but he also didn't care what happened to humans. If they all died, that was a plus to him. Did his female personality want to kill all humans or was the personality that didn't want to go along with the plan.

I think Shinobu came up with the idea, but Minoru was the one that came up with the rest like having Gamemaster fight and possibly die.

One of the great things about his plan was that it's not just some great elaborate plan where everything has to go just right. He allows room for change. He thought of a lot of variables.

Gamemaster: if he wins, then Yusuke and his frienRAB can't stop him. If he loses, he was counting on Koenma to revive him thus sapping a lot of energy from his pacifier.

Kuwabara: He needed Kuwabara to cut through the net. Either he would use Gourmet to absorb the ability, or use Kuwabara's desire for revenge to cut through the net. Of course he would have to count on Hiei and Kurama's strength not allowing them to pass through, but Minoru's the type that would do his homework on his enemies.

Kazuya said to Koenma that all seven came up with the plan to go to Demon World. She probably had little to do with the whole manipulating the psychics and death of humans, though. Maybe she just wanted to have a nice place to finally die as Itsuki comment that she is the personality that vents all Sensui's sorrows.

Personally, I liked Kazuya best - if only because, in the dub, when he's beating mercilessly on Yusuke, he drops the S-Borab. Now, the Yu Yu Hakusho dub had never really danced around curses, but that was probably the "worst" word they used. You don't expect that, it keeps you on your toes, makes you think - wow, this guy is SERIOUS.

Sensui, in my mind has a pretty consistant psychology. He has a simplistic world view that comes crashing down when he sees something aweful, and he judges an entire race based on the actions of a few. Then he finRAB out he's going to do which gives him sufficient motivation to visit the world that he had unquestioningly fought against for so long, and if humans died in the process, that much better.

Toguro, i can't quite get a handle on. He doesn't want to get older and weaker. His students die which messes with his head so he becomes a demon both because he wants strenght but also because he hates demons and sees it as a type of punishment. Then Yusuke comes along and he sees a way out. He kills Genkai (who may have been a former lover) to give Yusuke sufficient motivation. Then when he's killed he goes to the worst of all Hells. Is this a simple case of self loathing? I'm interested in your thoughts.

it's like self flagellation. Even if he wanted it, he doesn't enjoy it. It's not a reward. Plus, even if he thought he wanted it, there's the desire and then the reality.
