Favorite Peanuts Characters?

Charlie Brown is the obvious.

I always did like Pig Pen as well. Going back and reading his earlier strips (I've been picking up the insanely awesome "Complete Peanuts" books) have made me like him even more.

He'll probably get no love, but I've always been a big fan or Rerun also. "I Want A Dog For Christmas, Charlie Brown" was awesome, and the strips of him in class, as well as on the back of the bike, were so great.

That's always bothered me....that people think Peppermint Patty and Marcie are lesbians, when it's clearly obvious in both the comic strips and animation that both girls like Charlie Brown (and I swear, every Peanuts parody I've ever seen has to have a "lesbian" joke about those two....I found it funny exactly once...in the Family Guy episode where it turns out Peter once dated Peppermint Patty)....

Anyway,of the kids,my favorites are Charlie Brown and Linus....Charlie Brown because he keeps trying, even though he fails at alot of what he does, and Linus because while he's among the smartest of the kids,he still has a belief in the "Great Pumpkin"....and the "security blanket" gags are usually pretty funny...

Linus and Lucy.

I love Linus because he's smart and witty, he's afraid of "Queen Snakes" and uses his blanket as a whip-like weapon :p Oh, and he won't put up with any garbage from Snoopy, especially when they're fighting over his blanket.

I love Lucy because she's crabby and sarcastic, strong and determined, and sticks to her beliefs no matter how ridiculous they might be. Yes, she can be an outright witch, but she's not completely black-hearted. And her one-sided crush on Shroeder is adorable. You have to hope he'll notice her one day ;)

I've always enjoyed Peppermint Patty. I like what she brought to the cast. A much more down to earth type of character who contrasted well with the established cast members. You had this little world of the neighborhood Peanuts characters - many of whom conspired to drive poor Charlie Brown nuts - and then you had Peppermint Patty, a street-wise, sandal-wearing, gruff little tomboy who had a thing for old "Chuck" but played mind games with him about it.

There was something real about her. I like how in A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving she berates Charlie Brown for the lame dinner and then after being told off by Marcie she immediately realizes what she's done and genuinely feels sorry, unlike most of the other female characters like Lucy or Violet who just existed to insult Charlie Brown right to his face. Then in There's No Time For Love, Charlie Brown she opens her big mouth behind Chuck's back and immediately kicks herself in the pants when she realizes he's heard every word. She then proceeds to call after his bus pleading with him to understand that she does like him.

And Snoopy is just the man. Plain the simple.
