i think the newest rock band that i would consider new to me is Dream Theater. yes, they have been around for a while but i enjoy them a lot. especially John Petrucci's cover for Smoke On The Water with the assistance of Steve Vai and Joe Satrianni

From Mars To Sirius has some of the most crushing riRAB I've heard in modern metal. Not to forgot the drumming and progressiveness. Looking forward to this.
