This is a tough one..

..There was some truly great satirical music created for Animaniacs and Histeria..but as far as a full length animated film is concerned it is even tougher.

The main theme from Land Before Time is haunting. I also like The Little Mermaid (I recall a couple of great numbers with lots of fish dancing) and Beauty and the Beast( "Be my Guest" had a great song in the library.song titled.."Beauty and the Beast").

There is so much great music produced for animation, recently and in the past. One could mention Snow White, or Pinocchio but those are a few of the great ones for me. The music will always be remembered and listened to.
List your favorites if you like. Either a show, or a full length film. or both..give reasons why you like them if you can..(as many as you wish, in either category, or both if you have favorites in both...)....thanks.......sun.

For animated shows my favorite background music/musical scores are:

Wolf's Rain

Avatar: The Last Airbender

Batman Beyond

For animated movies:

TMNT

The Incredibles

The Great Mouse Detective

Lilo and Stitch 2: Stitch has a Glitch

Hoo boy, I like a lot of cartoon music. I can't remember it all, but some of my favourites are...

The Raccoons
Lupin the Third
Rock and Rule
Cowboy Bebop
Charlie Brown/Peanuts/whatever you want to call it

I love the scores from Studio Ghibli films. I really like Joe Hisaishi's work, he's very talented. I think my favorite score by him is "Ano Natsu He".

Also, Vince Guaraldi's work for the Peanuts specials are fantastic. "Linus and Lucy" is easy to get stuck in your head.

The soundtrack for Cowboy Bebop is really great. Yoko Kanno is great in general, I admire that her ability to take on a variety of styles.

Pretty much anything by Carl Stalling or Milt Franklyn for Looney Tunes gets an automatic "A" from me. The way they took classical music, popular songs of the day, folk tunes, and Raymond Scott jazz and managed to time it to the on-screen action is a testament to their greatness.

Also, I'd put in a vote for Ren & Stimpy. Despite the fact that the vast majority of the music wasn't actually written for the cartoon, every piece chosen fit the scenes well and was very memorable. More praise here: http://news.rabroad.net/article.php?ID=17372 .

To discuss animation music without mentioning Carl Stalling is really a sin. I am sorry I forgot. Carl Stalling predates Warner Bros toons, and if I am correct, (I may be wrong) he scored the "Skeleton Dance" in classic Disney toon. After an argument with Walt, he moved to Warner Bros and
created the greatest background music for toons ever..(In my opinion). His scoring is absolutely perfect. For people who watched them in theaters, it was understated, and did not take away from the action, yet was recogniziable. It was more important, it was fun and happy.

My hats is off to Speedy Boris..for bring Carl's name up.
For those who do not know about him..here is a link to wikipedia so you can read his biography...He was truly great..........sun.
