Favorite music growing up?

In the following order;
Earliest recollection was of my fathers uncles playing violins round a camp fire...I shit you not!
Northern Soul courtesy of my eldest sister. A legacy that still stays strong and still keeping the faith.
Punk.
Post punk.

When i was really little i loved Bob Marley. Only because i had heard his greatest hits. I admit that i was a terrible music fan when very young. What ever played on the radio and that i LOVED.

I used to listen exclusively to Elton John and Disney soundtracks. That's why Bob Dylan and the Sex Pistols were like a goRABend to me.

Mention 'music' to a 12 year old version of me and it would bring back horrible memories of Fleetwood Mac's 'Rumors' played on a continuous loop for the entire duration of EVERY summer vacation I ever took with me parents.
Green Day's Dookie was the first album I ever intentionally listened to, and at the time every word seemed to relate to me in a profound way, so I developed an unhealthy obsession with all things Green Day. But then they released 'Warning' and after I cleaned up the puke, I promptly traded that stinkfest for a No Doubt album. Yeah. A No Doubt album. It was that bad.

i cut my teeth on early bubblegum rap like dj jazzy jeff and the fresh prince, young mc along with random late 80s top 40 crap.

it's only after i joined music clubs (colurabia house / BMG) in the early 90s i started branching out into the alt. rock of the day and classic rock.

i'll also own up to having owned way more kim mitchell cassettes than i care to remeraber.

as a musician/wanna-be producer growing up, I obsessed on Rush, Led Zep, and Pink Floyd. My 'Holy Trinity'...

Kinda crazy that my 'day job' is mostly hiphop engineering!

Great thread, btw- love to reminisce
