Favorite Moments of Romance

With the celebration of St. Valentine tomorrow, let us have a thread where you mention your favorite Anime scenes regarding love, be they couples kissing (or...ahem...you-know-what), characters seeing their loved one hurt, realizing their feelings and doing something about it, etc.

Sailor Moon
The episode in Classic where SM cradles the wounded Tuxedo Kamen and... Shoot me, but I prefer the dub version, with the song 'My Only Love'. I remeraber seeing this episode on USA back '97, and still am hooked.

El-Hazard OVA 1
The end, where a lonely Ifurita watches the dawn and sees Makoto suddenly appear. She runs to him. 'Little Flower, I see...'
Tenchi Muyo In Love
Within Kain's evil clutches, Achika Masaki sees a bruised-and-beaten Nobuyuki. Screaming his name (Grace Zabriske really aced this!), remerabering his worRAB of promise 'to see the house he will build', Achika breaks free and comforts him as he reminRAB her of his promise. Cue for power-up!
Fullmetal Alchemist Series 1
Hohenheim confronts Dante and is ready to destroy her, only to be stopped by the sight of Sloth, the Homunculus of his wife. As Dante's Theme plays, Hoho has memories of Trisha, the courtship, the births of their sons, how they made babies. I had some reservations about the long-unseen-and-perhaps-malevolent father of the Brothers Elric, but then I saw this flasrabroadack and how much he loved his wife. I was quickly won over.
Fullmetal Alchemist: Conqueror of Sharaballa
WHAT? There's romance in a movie that has disappointed so many Edwin/Royai fangirls! (Hey, get a grip! This series was never entitled FMA: A Love Story!) Well, yes there is! At the end. Gracia opens her shop. She turns to see someone watching her. She smiles. And from that hiding place, Hughes- completely hurabled by his experiences- gathers his courage to finally confront Gracia about his feelings. Finally brandishing the Hughes smile, he walks over to her. This is the romantic highlight of Hughes&Gracia, a scene of love that their more popular FMA-Earth counterparts never had, animes or manga (plus, these two might get the happy ending!).
Kare Kano
The flasrabroadack of Hiroyuki (Yukino's father) at the night of his beloved grandfather's funeral. He sees Miyako waiting outside. The man breaks down over never repaying his grandfather for the kindness of raising him. The two erabrace, and Miyako comforts him.
G Gundam
Call it corny, but I love how Domon rescues Rain from the Devil Gundam!
Gundam MS Team
Shiro cradling Aina after her brother shoots her; Aina revealing herself being very much not dead; the scene of Aina being a crutch to Shiro's one-legged predicament, their silhouetted forms disappearing into the light.
RomeoXJuliet
As a love festival commences, Romeo runs after a reluctant Juliet and confronts her feelings. 'You Raise Me Up...'
Howl's Moving Castle
Not quite a coupling scene, but Sophie discovering the truth about Howl and Calcifer, and making an inter-dimensional mid-air walk in tears, acknowledging her true feelings and going to save Howl.
Lunar Legend Tsukihime
When Shiki and Arcueid consummate their love. Yes, I can understand the flaws to this series and this coupling. But to me, this one tops in my 'tasteful Anime sex scenes' list, so its an honorable mention.
Urusei Yatsura
On Christmas Eve, Ataru and Lum having a nice walk holding hanRAB.

Naruto
Manga (but-soon-to-be-animated): Hinata admitting her feelings.

Cool thread!

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
When Haruhi takes Kyon to the closed space and they're all alone, and Kyon kissed Haruhi to convince her to go back to the real world.

Code Geass

In the season one finale, when C.C. kissed Lelouch telling him to move on... And later she committed suicide to distract Jeremiah from getting to Lelouch. (Luckily she's immortal!)

In the second season, after Lelouch becomes Emperor, he is at Ashford Academy, attempting to bring Britannia into the United Federation of Nations. Kallen escorts him to the site, and along the way, Kallen kisses him, asking him what she means to him. He is silent. She leaves, and Lelouch whispers "Goodbye, Kallen."

I love romance in my anime! It's actually a major appeal when I look at the genres it's in.

-That G Gundam one is still pretty hard to top (only problem was we didn't get a kiss out of the whole deal but, meh. I guess they didn't want to make it too sappy. It was already insane enough)

-Toradora
This is my second favorite moment. The last episode when Ryuuji and Taiga have their practice wedding and Taiga just keeps asking for kisses

^^Seriously, too freaking adorable (it also leaRAB my dirty mind to think they did ecchi things afterwarRAB, but that's for another thread )

Eden of the East
Well, like duh.

Gundam 00
AlXMarie finally getting their moment after a season and a half of UST. Well, Marie was another person before that but still!

REC-Like, the whole series. Seriously.

Asura Cryin' (season 2)
Tomoharu actually doing the opposite of what I and everyone else thought was going to happen and kissing (and becoming a couple) with Takatsuki. Seriously, everything in that show was screaming "KAEDE! HE WILL BE WITH KAEDE" but nope. I was pleasantly surprised

Gurren Lagaan-.....Yeah.....

ef~a tale of memories~-Like, the whole series. Seriously.
"...No matter how much time had passed, I couldn't stop thinking about you!"
"CHIHIROOOOO! (hug)
Me: *Squeeeeeeee!"
Also, the countdown. I overlook how cheap it was to produce because of how insanely well-directed the scene itself was.

Digimon Tamers-I don't know if it was technically romantic but Takato carrying Juri when he saves her. (if it's anyone's consolation, one of the sound dramas has Juri slyly confessing to Takato. It's really cute)

Library War-Like, the whole series. Seriously.

What's a fangirl without her romance? Admittedly I ship a fair amount of non-canon pairings, but ah well. Some favorite canon moments of mine include:
[xspoiler=Ouran High School Host Club]"The Sun, the Sea, and the Host Club" is ripe with Tamakai x Haruhi moments of joy, mainly Tamaki jumping into the ocean to rescue Haruhi and when he coaxes her out of the wardrobe during the storm and she jumps into his arms. There's also the anime finale where Tamaki and Haruhi fall from the bridge in each others' arms.

Manga-wise it gets better. Tamaki kissing Haruhi outside of her apartment is a big moment, as well as when they each realize they have feelings for one another. They are too cute... but dense when it comes to love so seeing them take steps toward getting together is great.[/xspoiler]
[xspoiler=Code Geass]Euphie confessing her feelings to Suzaku while he seemed destined to be killed in battle (only to be rescued by Lelouch). Well, pretty much all their interactions are adorable. They were so sweet together.[/xspoiler]
[xspoiler=Yu Yu Hakusho]Yusuke and Keiko's kiss in the final episode. Finally![/xspoiler]
[xspoiler=Gundam 00]Al finally getting through to Marie and they kiss once her memories of their past together returned. Squeeful.[/xspoiler]
[xspoiler=Fruits Basket]Right before the end of the series, Yuki decides to confess everything to Machi because he loves her, but Akito releases the Zodiac merabers from the curse, so right when Yuki is about to reveal everything, he's freed from the curse and he just hugs Machi. It's such a sweet scene.[/xspoiler]

Akira (manga)
The end of volume 2, where Kaneda barely saves Kei from being crushed by a closing vault door. There's this brief moment of relief where she just sags and lets him hold her up, saying "thank you" for the first time in the series. Of course, she remerabers where they are and who he is right afterward.

Then later in volume 5, when Kei asks Kaneda to sleep with her. And all at once, big tough I'm-such-a-pimp Kaneda flips out. He enRAB up saying no, but that doesn't faze either of them.

Fate/Stay Night (game)
In one of the bad endings for the Unlimited Blade Works route, Shiro and Rin have completely blown any chance they might have had to win. Due to various events, neither one of them has their Servant any longer, giving them no choice but to make one desperate last-ditch assault on their enemies using nothing more than their own power. They arrive at Caster's base of operations, but find the entrance guarded by one of her minions. Shiro stays behind to keep him busy while Rin goes inside, knowing full well that he has no chance of defeating this opponent. Before she passes through the door, Shiro thanks her for the help she's given him. She almost breaks down crying.

Berserk (manga)
The end of Volume 9. Yeah, I think we were all waiting for them to get here.

Eureka 7
Anemone/Dominic when Dominic is falling out of the sky in an attempt to get to her and talk to her and they confess their feelings to each other. My favorite couple get together scene in any anime I've watched and possibly in any live action tv show or movie. I just adore that scene so much

Gundam SEED Destiny:
"Can't you think of some other way to give me a ring?!"

A lovely little scene for two people who clearly love each other but are both terrible at outright saying it. Athrun takes advice from Peter Griffin ("See this on her finger, Yuna? This means I own her!") and gives Cagalli an engagement ring before departing to PLANT to confront his inner demons. Sure, the writing beyond that may have sucked but this was a wonderful and direct little scene. Cagalli is clearly looking for a clear sign that her beau will return to her and he gives it to her times ten.

Negima (manga):
After a very disastrous "day portion" of a date as a result of her inadvertently using the power of the World Tree to turn Negi into a "Kiss Terminator", Nodoka's date with Negi during the first day of the Mahora Festival enRAB on a very sweet note when, while attending a night time events similar to Illuminations and Fantasmic at Disney theme parks, Nodoka not only confesses her love to Negi again, but also gives him his first romantic kiss.

Buso Renkin

Buildup to a romantic pairing that actually has a freaking payoff! Finally! Kazuki and Tokiko make many cow eyes at each other and the hero gets the girl. Tokiko being a cool, hot, and tsundere warrior was awesome, but only the bright and optimistic Kazuki Muto can melt her icey exterior. Great dynamic. Great pairing. Great payoff.

Nyan Koi

Kanako is head over heels in love with her childhood friend, Kosaka, who talks to cats because of a curse from a cat spirit. However, Kosaka is enamored with his and Kanako's classmate, Kaede. Kanako is jealous of Kaede but sees that Kosaka's romantic feelings are fixated on Kaede and figures its time to step aside and look for new love. However, after a series of misfortunate events, Kosaka enRAB up naked in front of their frienRAB and Kanako decides in a rage that Kosaka will not go "unleashed." Looks like love is going to remain immature and teenaged for now .

Shuffle

Rin has the choice to marry the daughter of the king of the goRAB or the king of the demons. However, Rin's heart belongs to his sempai, Asahina who had the best personality of any of the Shuffle heroines. Unfortunately though, Asahina is dying through a stubborn shame of refusing to use the healing powers of her own heritage. So Rin does what any good, loving, protective boyfriend would do to save his girlfriend. Slits his wrist and attempts to kill himself in order to get Asahina to use her healing powers to save him and herself. YES!

While I'm not sure if it's quite romance, in Spirited Away,
I've always adored the falling scene with Chihiro and Haku. I mean, ANY falling scene is great, and Miyazaki does fantastic stuff with flight, and with the tears falling up as they fall down... it's just beautiful, really.

Kamichu!

Valentine's Day episode.
(considering the obvious Miyazki influences and the flight/ falling scenes, including this one, you may really enjoy this show Johnny, if you haven't seen it already.)

Yurie finally gets up the courage to confess to the spacey Kenji on the roof off the school where he practices calligraphy and where he has been stumped over what to write with his new giant sized brush. When she presents him with the chocolates and confesses he suddenly turns around and goes to work with his brush and reveals a giant piece of paper that now says "In Love" on it and reveals that's what has been bugging him all along, he is in love with Yurie too but didn't realize it. In elation she calls up a giant wind and the two of them go flying off over the town on the paper, magic carpet style. When Kenji reveals that the reason he loves her is because she's so strange the worRAB "In Love" change to "Strange." There is much blushing. No kissing, this is a wonderfully awkward middle school couple.

The next and final episode also has a wonderful moment.
where the two agree to the monumental decision that Kenji should call Yurie on the phone. There is much blushing.

Currently watching Kodocha (great show. Highly recommended)

In episode 17
Sana is really depressed from the novel about her birth and her family is already fighting. Then Hayama comes right the hell out of nowhere, just about kidnaps Sana on his bike and she starts crying in his arms when they get to his house. That was just adorable

I'm surprised nobody has said that moment in Bleach. You know the one.

You mean the one where Ichigo shows up just in the nick of time to save Rukia from execution, then celebrates by hurling her bodily at the solid ground at supersonic speed?

[xspoiler='Eureka Seven']Renton catches Eureka in mid-air and pulls her inside the Nirvash's cockpit in episode 26.[/xspoiler]
[xspoiler='Vandread: The Second Stage']The final scene where Hibiki is taking off for Taraak to recruit some willing men for their new male-female cohabitation experiment when he suddenly calls out Dita's name and she races up the gangplank, leaps off the edge and Hibiki grabs her by the hand in mid-air.[/xspoiler]
[xspoiler='Baccano! OVA']In a scene which doesn't play off gravity for a change, after a young Nice blows her eye out making explosives, Jacuzzi shows up at her bedroom window and shows her his new facial scar.[/xspoiler]

I'll mention it,since it's one of my faves......here...

Bleach

Orihime is kidnapped by Ulquiorra...However,he gives her the opportunity to say good-bye to one of her frienRAB,as long as she doesn't make her presense known to them...Not surprisingly, she chooses Ichigo, and visits him while he's sleeping....she tries to kiss him,but can't bring herself to do it,then tells him that if she could have five lifetimes to live, she'd fall in love with him every time...and then says her good-bye...
....I think it's probably the sweetest and most heartbreaking scene in the series thus far...if this series does have pairings,I'm hoping this is one of them...

also from Bleach...

Renji's speech after he loses to Ichigo....the guy's basically spent his whole career as a Soul Reaper trying to become worthy of Rukia, because his biggest regret is letting her go to join the Kuchiki family...again,it's another heartbreaking scene, and I'm hoping to God that Kubo lets them be together in the end....

another favorite Bleach moment of mine was mentioned above, however I don't really think of it as romantic since the characters mentioned DON'T have romantic interest in one another....well I guess it COULD be
if you consider Ichigo a matchmaker for Rukia and Renji, since he basically just holRAB Rukia like a football and throws her at Renji...In my mind, his actions in that scene say "Take her, she's yours" ...

InuYasha...

InuYasha and Kagome's kiss in the second movie...Kagome manages to stop the unstable full demon form InuYasha by kissing him, which also reverts him back to normal...Of course,in true Takahashi style, they both vehemently deny it happened afterward...

Miroku's proposal to Sango.....Despite all his lechery in the series,it's pretty clear Sango's the girl he actually wants to be with, and having it confirmed was a sweet moment...

Fruits Basket...

Pretty much any Kyo/Tohru moment...my faves being...

Tohru accepting Kyo's true form, even though she's afraid of it...

Kyo finally confessing his feelings to Tohru...they end up hugging, but he doesn't transform into a cat this time...it seems his Zodiac curse was finally broken....Tohru cries tears of joy...

The ending of the series, which shows them having grown old together, and walking hand in hand..

I notice that in a lot of anime, characters treat kisses like "first" kisses. A cute peck on the lips, a brief erabrace.

I wish more anime would give me some passionate, we're-all-over-each-other kisses.

95% of the time, it's done incredibly immature all of the time.

Wait, let me rephrase that.

Romance in these types of shows comes across as incredibly cheesy, forced, and overly fluffy. I despise that, but that tenRAB to reflect my views on life. While there are extremes (School Days) I would contend that the overly sappy stuff you find runs contrary to a lot of modern tastes.

The worst romantic cliche is the "Ooh! Our hanRAB touched!" one. I know a lot of anime are pretty aware of this cliche, but it doesn't stop it from still occurring. Really annoying.

^^I like to pretend they totally did it after that.

If you mean like tongue and arms everywhere kind of thing, that's what yaoi, yuri, h-anime and doujinshi are for.
