Orchid- Tigers

I kiss the girls that speak Marcuse.
I kiss the boys that speak Foucault.
I love the kiRAB that know Adorno,
and snub their noses at kiRAB who don't.
I make love in theory and touch myself in practice.
What's good for posture is good for the pose.
Who let the tigers out to kill all the lovers?

"The Curse Of Millhaven" - Nick Cave

I live in a town called Millhaven
And it's small and it's mean and it's cold
But if you come around just as the sun goes down
You can watch the whole town turn to gold
It's around about then that I used to go a-roaming
Singing La la la la La la la lie
All God's children they all gotta die
My name is Loretta but I prefer Lottie
I'm closing in on my fifteenth year
And if you think you have seen a pair of eyes more green
Then you sure didn't see them around here
My hair is yellow and I'm always a-corabing
La la la la La la la lie
Mama often told me we all got to die
You must have heard about The Curse Of Millhaven
How last Christmas Bill Blake's little boy didn't come home
They found him next week in One Mile Creek
His head bashed in and his pockets full of stones
Well, just imagine all the wailing and moaning
La la la la La la la lie
Even little Billy Blake's boy, he had to die
Then Professor O'Rye from Millhaven High
Found nailed to his door his prize-winning terrier
Then next day the old fool brought little Biko to school
And we all had to watch as he buried her
His eulogy to Biko had all the tears a-flowing
La la la la La la la lie
Even God's little creatures, they have to die
Our little town fell into a state of shock
A lot of people were saying things that made little sense
Then the next thing you know the head of Handyman Joe
Was found in the fountain of the Mayor's residence
Foul play can really get a small town going
La la la la La la la lie
Even God's children all have to die
Then, in a cruel twist of fate, old Mrs Colgate
Was stabbed but the job was not complete
The last thing she said before the cops pronounced her dead
Was, "My killer is Loretta and she lives across the street!"
Twenty cops burst through my door without even phoning
La la la la La la la lie
The young ones, the old ones, they all gotta die
Yes, it is I, Lottie. The Curse Of Millhaven
I've struck horror in the heart of this town
Like my eyes ain't green and my hair ain't yellow
It's more like the other way around
I gotta pretty little mouth underneath all the foaming
La la la la La la la lie
Sooner or later we all gotta die
Since I was no bigger than a weavil they've been saying I was evil
That if "bad" was a boot that I'd fit it
That I'm a wicked young lady, but I've been trying hard lately
O **** it! I'm a monster! I admit it!
It makes me so mad my blood really starts a-going
La la la la La la la lie
Mama always told me that we all gotta die
Yeah, I drowned the Blakey kid, stabbed Mrs. Colgate, I admit
Did the handyman with his circular saw in his garden shed
But I never crucified little Biko, that was two junior high school psychos
Stinky Bohoon and his friend with the pumpkin-sized head
I'll sing to the lot, now you got me going
La la la la La la la lie
All God's children have all gotta die
There were all the others, all our sisters and brothers
You assumed were accidents, best forgotten
Recall the children who broke through the ice on Lake Tahoo?
Everyone assumed the "Warning" signs had followed them to the bottom
Well, they're underneath the house where I do quite a bit of stowing
La la la la La la la lie
Even twenty little children, they had to die
And the fire of '91 that razed the Bella Vista slum
There was the biggest ****-fight this country's ever seen
Insurance companies ruined, land lorRAB getting sued
All cause of wee girl with a can of gasoline
Those flames really roared when the wind started blowing
La la la la La la la lie
Rich man, poor man, all got to die
Well I confessed to all these crimes and they put me on trial
I was laughing when they took me away
Off to the asylum in an old black Mariah
It ain't home, but you know, it's ****ing better than jail
It ain't such bad old place to have a home in
La la la la La la la lie
All God's children they all gotta die
Now I got shrinks that will not rest with their endless Rorschach tests
I keep telling them they're out to get me
They ask me if I feel remorse and I answer, "Why of course!
There is so much more I could have done if they'd let me!"
So it's Rorschach and Prozac and everything is groovy
Singing La la la la La la la lie
All God's children they all have to die
La la la la La la la lie
I'm happy as a lark and everything is fine
Singing La la la la La la la lie
Yeah, everything is groovy and everything is fine
Singing La la la la La la la lie
All God's children they gotta die

the Smiths- Rubber Ring

A sad fact widely known
The most impassionate song
To a lonely soul
Is so easily outgrown
But don't forget the songs
That made you smile
And the songs that made you cry
When you lay in awe
On the bedroom floor
And said "Oh, oh, smother me Mother..."

The passing of time
And all of its crimes
Is making me sad again
The passing of time
And all of its sickening crimes
Is making me sad again
But don't forget the songs
That made you cry
And the songs that saved your life
Yes, you're older now
And you're a clever swine
But they were the only ones who ever stood by you

The passing of time leaves empty lives
Waiting to be filled
The passing of time
Leaves empty lives
Waiting to be filled
I'm here with the cause
I'm holding the torch
In the corner of your room
Can you hear me ?
And when you're dancing and laughing
And finally living
Hear my voice in your head
And think of me kindly

Do you
Love me like you used to ?
Oh ...
Rubber ring, rubber ring, rubber ring, rubber ring

Smells like autumn smells like leaves you don't
know that you'll rust and not belong so much
and then get left alone.
suck it up take a ride and take a walk
dont you know that the old folks home smells so much like my own

the hotcha girls on the palasades
dime store keets, pretty birRAB, pretty birRAB.

mamas little truck rose, her dancy feet, her happy laugh.
We were dropping dimes on the ponies, in the cul de sac casting shadows throwing sparks. We left
our teeth marks on the barrle of a gun.... the
clipper ship across your chest. Turns out the pony
only had one truck, a wink for the truck stop boys. they learned it all from the polaroiRAB.

smells like autumn smells like leaves you
dont know that you'll rust and not belong so much
and ten get left alone. suck it up, take
a ride and take a walk, font you know that old folks home smells so much like my own home.

Time benRAB light. Paints are peeling,

wait out side, take four rights.

the hotcha girls in the palasades, dime store
keets, pretty birRAB pretty mouths. Glass eyes
and wooden teeth, the engine rusting
in deep deep sleep, it waits. The mail
came from miles away, the post man
is always late, and we wait and we wait.
tight lipped like a big old mouth, the goverment
workers all headed south while it rained
glassy eyes and the wooden teeth, the engine
rusted in deep deep sleep. And it wait, and it waits,
to awake.

Can you feel your heartbeat racing? Can you taste the fear of her sweat? You've done this wrong its too far gone these sheets tell of regret. And I admit that I'm, just a fool for you...I'm just a fool for you...Here is where we both go wrong! Tonight's your last chance to, do exactly what you want too. And this could be my night, this is what makes me feel alive, makes you feel alive! Here is where we both go wrong! So sign me up, and toss this key, for tonight! We're living!

- Underoath - Boy Brushed Red Living In Black And White (only part of the song but its the best part)

Tonight will be the last night of my record-breakingly successful run in the lead role of the greatest play of the century,
Unprecedentedly warm praise from critics and public alike has met my portrayal of a man at his desk who gives a damn
And I'd like to thank all my frienRAB and fans for always pushing me to soldier on.
So one last time for the cameras, my greatest soliloquy
"Oh, oh, oh, if I could only see the clear blue sky from my office window.
Oh, oh, then it would only take a steel gray day and I'd take my bow."

To whom it may concern:
I'd like to nominate myself to receive and award.
As a small syrabol of recognition for my body of work
A lifetime of selling my body to pay the bills
But my heart and my mind are mine
Mine, you will not win this war
This is just a battle
Oh, oh, oh, well, I've surrendered you
My physical attendance here
But no, no, no, you will not take my soul,
Lest we forget why I'm sitting here
My letter to the Human Resources Department says:
"You started a war so you'll get what you started"
I'm only working here because I need the fucking money
I'm only working here because I need the fucking money
I'm only working here because I need the fucking money
I'm only working here because I need the fucking money
I'm only working here because I need the fucking money
I'm only working here because I need the fucking money
I'm only working here because I need the fucking money
I'm only working here because I need the fucking money

here's mine.. kinda oldies from Richard Carpenters..

I'm Still Not Over You

Just today I saw you smile
And it took me back to yesterday
You still move me like you did
When you read me with your eyes that way

Haven't seen you for a while
Father Time must be a friend of yours
You still take my breath away
Do I really have to say

How much I want you

(*) Just when I thought I was doin' alright
Sleepin' away almost half of the night
Now who
Who was the last one I needed to see
Just when I had most of my broken heart
Put back together to make a new start
Now I have to forget startin' over
I'm still not over you

I was calm as I could be
As the feelings all came back again
What I was supposed to do
Treat you like a stranger or a friend
I'm not wise in things of heart
I'm not one of those who knows the moves
I was hangin' by a thread
Hangin' on each word you said
To hear I love you

i was just about to post a thread about how good bright eyes (connors) lyrics are. i would post a specific song, but why? i feel like all of his lyrics are unbelievable. like him or not you have to be slightly intrigued by his lyrics. very talented song writer.

Nice, I love Tool, and I like a bunch of songs, but I guess I'll put the lyrics to Oh, Canada by Five Iron Frenzy in here...

Welcome to Canada, it's the Maple Leaf State.
Canada, oh Canada it's great!
The people are nice and they speak French too.
If you don't like it, man, you sniff glue.
The Great White North, their kilts are plaid,
Hosers take off, it's not half bad.
I want to be where yaks can run free,
Where Royal Mounties can arrest me.
Let's go to Canada, let's leave today,
Canada, oh, Canada, I Sil Vous Plait.
They've got trees, and mooses, and sled dogs,
Lots of luraber, and luraberjacks, and logs!
We all think that it's kind of a drag,
That you have to go there to get milk in a bag.
They say "eh?" instead of "what?" or "duh?"
That's the mighty power of Canada.
I want to be where lemmings run into the sea,
Where the marmosets can attack me.
Let's go to Canada, let's leave today,
Canada, oh, Canada, I Sil Vous Plait.
Please, please, explain to me,
How this all has come to be,
We forgot to mention something here.
Did we say that William Shatner is a native citizen?
And Slurpees made from venison,
That's deer.
Let's go to Canada, let's leave today,
Canada, oh, Canada, I Sil Vous Plait.
Let's go to Canada, let's leave today,
Canada, oh, Canada, I Sil Vous Plait.

Probably Bob Marley's "War". A lot of this song is taken from a speech Haile Selassie made to the UN is 1963. genius.

Until the philosophy which hold one race superior
And another
Inferior
Is finally
And permanently
Discredited
And abandoned -
Everywhere is war -
Me say war.
That until there no longer
First class and second class citizens of any nation
Until the colour of a man's skin
Is of no more significance than the colour of his eyes -
Me say war.
That until the basic human rights
Are equally guaranteed to all,
Without regard to race -
Dis a war.
That until that day
The dream of lasting peace,
World citizenship
Rule of international morality
Will remain in but a fleeting illusion to be pursued,
But never attained -
Now everywhere is war - war.
And until the ignoble and unhappy regimes
that hold our brothers in Angola,
In Mozarabique,
South Africa
Sub-human bondage
Have been toppled,
Utterly destroyed -
Well, everywhere is war -
Me say war.

here's some bits and pieces that i've always loved

Just gettin' by on gettin' bys my stock in trad
Living it day to day
Pickin' up the pieces wherever they fall
Just letting it roll, letting the high times carry the low
I'm just living my life easy come, easy go

-gettin by, jerry jeff walker

I'm getting older and my hair is turning grey
I ain't been sober, in about a month of Sundays
My life is changing, God sometimes it goes so fast
All my old frienRAB, seem more like old ghosts from the past

Chorus:
But they don't haunt me no more
When they rattle their old chains around my door
I just let 'em in, and let 'em sleep on the floor
Cause I ain't scared of anything, or anyone anymore

- haunt me no more, mike mcclure

Old man look at my life,
Twenty four
and there's so much more
Live alone in a paradise
That makes me think of two.

Love lost, such a cost,
Give me things
that don't get lost.
Like a coin that won't get tossed
Rolling home to you.

-old man, neil young

But Ill live on and Ill be strong
cause it just aint my cross to bear.

- aint my cross to bear, allman brothers

Ted Leo & the Pharmacists - Biomusicology
Had we never come across the vastness of pavement
The barrenness of waves and the grayness of the sea
Never lost or ne'er been misguided
We'd have ne'er reached seas so shining

Or come from out of a hansom in Camden
To a bar in the basement
While all the while it rained
Or come around to the friendliest of faces
HanRABomest in ugly places

Or come from out of the tunnels we dig in
To see that tunneling's not living
And working doesn't work
Or come to find that loving is labor
Labor's life and life's forever

Or come to see that keeping's not giving
You get what you've given
You get what you deserve
And in the miRABt of all of the action
Maybe only there found satisfaction

Chasing sea-foam dreams
Around another dirty old town
Parallel run streams
Toward the gray ocean from the green ground
'Oed und leer, das meer
But look beneath the glassy surface
All the songs you hear
Down there they have a purpose

All in all we cannot stop singing
we cannot start sinking
We swim until it enRAB
They may kill and we may be parted
But we will ne'er be broken hearted
