What are your favorite and/or least favorite Royalty characters? May it be Princesses, Princes, Kings, or Queens! :p

Princess Azula- She is a very engaging character, and she's a very powerful bender. Plus she's manipulative and attractive.

Princess Euphemia- I liked her because she knew she wasn't fit to be royalty like her older sister, and she always wanted to see people smile. :(

Prince Zuko- I didn't like him in the first 2 seasons, he was just grumpy and arrogant. (Plus his hairstyle did NOT do if for me) But in the 3rd season he really redeemed himself. :)

Prince Lelouch- He technically is a prince, even if he was banished. Anyways, I liked him for his intelligence and his love for his little sister. :)

Remember to EXPLAIN your choices, and not just list them. And, I did search to see a topic similar to this but I couldn't find one.

Post away!

My favorite Royalty characters in Animated shows,

Princess Toadstool(Super Mario Brothers) - Great princess character who actually bees a fighter for once in the awesome Super Mario RPG & Super Smash Bros. Melee games instead of a damsel-in-distress always.

Princess Lana(Captain N.:The Gamemaster) - Cute princess of Videoland who has a crush on Kevin/Capt.N., but doesn't like the womanizing jerk Simon at times, hehehe, but that show was so awesome & I miss it.

The Dark Princess(Rainbow Brite Movie) - Awesome evil, sadistic princess who's more evil than Murky Dismal with a pet diamond, hehehe, while wanting to destroy Rainbow Brite & company, but her death was sad/awesome though.

Prince Zuko(Avatar:TLAB) - He was awesome becoming a hero besides an arrogant villain who joins Aang's group & totally kicked Azula's butt with Katara assisting him & redeemed himself to his uncle, Iroh as well.

Princess Irmoplotz & Queen Zonthara(Dave the Barbarian) - Best wacky evil princess & evil queen villainesses on wanting to destroy Dave the Barbarian which I loved their hilarious evil plans too & Princess Irmoplotz was pretty cute though.

The Martian Queen/Queen Tyr'ahnee(Duck Dodgers) - Beautiful sexy ruler of the Martian Empire which I find her love/hate relationship with Daffy Duck/Duck Dodgers hilarious & Tia Carrere did great with her next to Darklos from Megas XLR.

Princess/Queen Elyon(W.I.T.C.H.) - Great princess/queen character which I feel sorry for her becoming naive/retarded to fall for Prince Phobos' tricks, hehehe, but she was a great villainess in the comics though.

Princess Natasha(Princess Natasha) - Awesome secret agent spy princess on saving the world like the 3 Totally Spies/Kim Possible from Totally Spies & Kim Possible.

The Iron King & Iron Queen Regina(Sonic the Hedgehog) - In the comics, they're awesome evil, megalomanical royalty villains for world domination & are worse than Dr.Robotnik, Ixis Naughus, Mammoth Mogul, & Dark Oak and the Metarex put together.

Ayeka Jurei(Tenchi Muyo!) - She may be annoying & bratty, but she has a good heart for caring for her sister Sasami & Tenchi and company & her many catfights with Ryoko still ROX:D, & her dub squeaky voice cracks me up so much, hahahahaha.

Martina(Slayers:Next) - Evil bratty princess of Xoana who's Lina's major rival by wanting vengeance on her while having a crush on Zangulus besides the other guys & finally showed her soft side in the battle with Phibrizzo which Rachel Lillis who was Misty/Jesse from Pokemon did great with her.

Princess Rune Venus(El-Hazard) - Awesome princess character which her relationships with Makoto was so great while fighting the Bugrom.

Princess Rurichio(Bleach) - She may be annoying & bratty, but she was pretty cool to put her life on the line to protect others against Kumoi & the awesome Capt.Amagai.

Prince Hydron(Bakugan:New Vestroia) - Awesome evil bratty prince who's the Vexos' leader & the power-hungry/calculating type with cool Vexos minions who wants to capture all Bakugan to take over New Vestroia & he's like a younger version of Prince Schneizel:evil:, except for the hair color, hehehehe, agreeing with zoombie.

Prince Lelouch(Code Geass) - Awesome hero prince who was banished & has a cool Geass power along with his brilliant intelligence to destroy Britannia, his rotten slimeball parents, Emperor Charles & Marianne, & that deranged psychopath Mao to make the world a better place for him & his adorable sister Nunnally, it surprised me that his mother turned out evil like his father & his accomplished sacrifice after being a corrupt emperor like his evil father was awesome as well & Johnny Yong Bosch did him justice, & I felt bad for him though with stuff falling apart like Nunnally's capture, Princess Euphemia & Shirley and her father's deaths, & that he would've killed Rolo sooner before when he killed poor Shirley.

Princess Cornelia(Code Geass) - Awesome evil hardcore princess with amazing battle strategies to destroy Lelouch while protecting her sister out of harm's way like Lelouch, I'm glad she's alive at the end which her & Guileford will start a new life together.

Princess Euphemia(Code Geass) - Sweet, good-natured princess who has courage on wanting to bring peace, especially saving Suzaku from those 2 dumb boys in the 5th episode, but her death was so sad though next to Shirley's:crying:, but Michelle Ruff was great as her.

Prince Schneizel(Code Geass) - Awesome evil, diabolical, megalomanical, calm, calculating prince/prime minister who's really intelligent on strategies by wanting to destroy Lelouch who's much like him, his defeat at the end was awesome & Troy Baker did great with him next to his other worst cool villains who're Frank Archer, Count Kinkel, Renga, & Jin Kariya, so amazing.

Prince Chagum(Moribito:Guardian of the Spirit) - Great young prince character protected by Balsa who learns alot of new stuff in the real world with a great personality & I'm happy the writers didn't make him mean, bratty, & spoiled, & Mona Marshall did great with him.

My least favorite Royalty characters in Animated shows,

Princess Azula(Avatar:TLAB) - I used to like her, but not anymore for hurting poor Uncle Iroh & Suki, Sokka's girlfriend, while manipulating poor Zuko, Mai, & Ty Lee as well which I'm glad she got her butt kicked many times to the season finale, but she was a great worst, psychopathic villainess ever created though, voiced by Grey Delisle.

Firelord Ozai(Avatar:TLAB) - What a dirty rotten jerk of a father for what he did to poor Zuko & Uncle Iroh, but his just desserts from Aang was so awesome, which he's worse than Emperor Charles, the other evil tyrant father.

Queen Beryl(Sailormoon) - I hated that nasty, sadistic villainess for killing off my favorite villains, Jedite & Zoicite, & brainwashing poor Darien as well, but I'm glad she's destroyed by Sailormoon, YESS!!!!!

Lucia Raregroove(Rave Master) - King's son who's a rotten, power-hungry, psychopathic, disgusting creep who wants to destroy the world with the Mother of Dark Brings & even kissed poor Elie, injures poor Shuda, & killed Hardner who's Nagisa's father which shocked me, but I'll be happy when Haru Glory beats his butt after his last battle with him while reading the manga.

Purio(Zatch Bell!) - Annoying crappy, ugly, sucky, bratty mamodo prince who needs to get killed off soon.

Princess Haruna(Naruto) - What a horrible witch of a princess for using those poor merchants as bait to get away & hurting poor Hinata which I so wanna beat her to death:mad:.

Prince Ryota(Idaten Jump) - Annoying bratty prince who annoyed me, but I'm glad Makoto kicked his butt though, hehehe, but Mona Marshall did great with his annoying brattiness though.

Emperor Charles(Code Geass) - Horrible, heartless slimebag of a father who's the next Gendo Ikari who bashes poor Lelouch, but his just desserts at the end along with his wife was awesome.

Princess Carline(Code Geass) - Annoying nasty brat who's Lelouch's bad sister who hates poor Nunnally, but her comeuppance along with Guinevere's by being maids is hilarious.

The High Eunuchs:Zhao,Xia,Cheng,Xiang,Cai,Tong,& Huang(Code Geass) - They're disgusting, annoying, gaywad clownish jerks for wanting to kill poor Empress Tianzi, but their deaths by Li Xingke was so awesome, they deserved it!!!!!!

Prince Ali(Mobile Suit Gundam 00) - Sick, bloodthirsty, psychopathic killer from Setsuna's past which his just desserts will be awesome & Scott Mc.Neil did awesome with him of course.

I pretty much dislike royalty in general and I hate the way fiction (especially animation) basically worships the concept of monarchy.

Democracy is superior. I don't need more stories about a form of government that gives authority to some random person just because he's "the rightful heir".

First off, Mulan is not a princess. She's awesome and ascends in rank in the movie, but she doesn't come from a royal lineage or marry into one. Personally, I blame the Disney Princess line. You guys know Tinker Bell was part of it at the beginning, right?

In terms of using monarchy, I think it tends to be the result of fantasy and/or period settings. There's a lot of great characters, both admirable and not, from the sheer number of royal 'toons- because it's another way to show power and responsibility. I just think the worst is when they don't bother showing why a "good king/queen/princess/prince" is good. It has to be shown, and live up to the tradeoff that monarchy is supposed to entail. Vivi being willing to blow up her palace in order to stop war lives up to her end of the bargain in One Piece.

"Listen, strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony ... I mean you can't expect to wield supreme executive power just because some watery tart threw a sword at you ... if I went around saying I was emperor just because some watery bink had lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away!" Ditto for 'The King is my dad, so...' It's got to be more than that.

Yeah, most royalty characters are shown in the past/fantasy setting. An exception is Code Geass, considering it's in the future...

I liked Princess Elyon from W.I.T.C.H., but not a whole lot.

I hated Prince Phobos (WITCH) he was just evil and annoying. -_-;

Most of the Gundam princesses are pretty cool in my book (Relena, Cagalli, Marina, Sayla, etc). They tend to come from high status but reject it to focus on making things better for everyone. The problem is that you can go too far with this, which creates far too 'perfect' characters like Euphemia from Code Geass.

Saber from Fate/Stay Night deserves mention, for kicking arse and being the rightful queen of England. Hail!

Ruri Hoshino in the Nadesico TV series is a pretty fun character, with the 'secret princess' backstory getting a one episode mention as part of the show's satirising of mecha show cliches.

I've always liked Queen Elyon from WITCH the most. She was probably the best example of royalty I can think of in a kid's show. For one, it was unique in that Meridian was a matriarchy and not a patriarchy, which is rare and unique enough in it's own right. The second is that she was actually called Queen. It might seem like a minor thing, but it's annoying how girls are called 'Princess' and rarely ever Queen, even if they're in charge of everything and their parents are gone, just because 'Princess' sounds more cute than 'Queen'. The third, and probably most important, is the fact she actually acts like a Queen. She thinks up new ways to help her people, settles disputes, and decrees laws and had other duties. She's not just a Princess for the title and doesn't do any actual royal work. She's how all the Disney Princesses should be.. actually well developed characters.

Case in point, in the 2002 version of the famous board game Candy Land, the character of Queen Frostine's name was changed to Princess Frostine, presumably because 'princess' sounds cuter than 'queen' or because more little girls pretend to be princesses than queens or whatever. Personally, I liked the name Queen Frostine more. It rhymed. Plus, if Candy Land has a King (King Kandy), why shouldn't it have a queen? I beleive their was also a character named Princess Lolly whose name was shortened to simply 'Lolly' in response to the change.

The reason little girls find princesses more fascinating than queens is (A) they're closer to their age and (B) they have all the power without any of the responsibility. Plus, (C) the more fantastical versions embody everything they desire: money, beauty, importance, high fashion, etc. And (D) "princess" is a pretty word. Girls will always love princesses until the end of time.

Yes, from a democratic standpoint it's unfair, but monarchy will always be a huge part of fantasy because being in a position of power TEMPORARILY is not as fascinating.

I forgot that she was called Queen in the second season. I was thinking of the 1st season. Heck, even Phobos, the ruler of Meridian was called Prince instead of King. -_-;

More:

Prince Schneizel- He was just about equally smart to Lelouch, and I loved his calm persona.

Princess Yue- Even though it didn't seem like she made any important decisions for her tribe, (all left to her dad, I guess her mom died, I dunno) she was very sweet.

And I agree with Princess Cornelia- She was a very strong fighter and I liked how she cared for her sister.:crying:

Hmm well my memory will not give up all it's contents at once but on the top of my head... The first poster mentioned Princess Azula. Yes one of my favorite characters from Avatar. Hmm i like that show King about that boy Russell but he wasn't my favorite character, however i guess he was an allright chap. I don't know whether King Bob from Recess counts but he's a good character imo. Princess Natasha as a character i don't mind but the show is awful imo. The family from Dave the Barbarian were allright. King Neptune and Princess Mindy from Spongebob movie were good characters. I haven't seen much of One Piece. King Hugo and the princess in Potatoes and Dragons were allright characters i guess. The family in Jane and the Dragon were allright characters.

I guess for least favorite i'd say the princess from Potatoes and Dragons because she's always joining forces with the dragon and i can't see how anyone would side with a ferocious fire breathing beast myself.

I've missed plenty i'm sure and i daresay my memory will jog in the near future and i will have plenty of 'oh now why didn't i think of that?' moments for the next few days.

My faves are Prince Zuko and Prince Nestor (now there's a study in contrasts). Both had issues, but Zuko's were played for drama and Nestor's were played for laughs.

That princess that had a thing for Daffy Duck in that disappointing Duck Dodgers cartoon is my least fave. Why she'd want a loser like him (no offense to the authentic Daffy from the golden age of Looney Tunes) was beyond me.

...........

OK, For one thing, Disney movies run about 90 minutes. They aren't a TV show like WITCH, so it's nigh impossible to get THAT much character development into princess characters.

And secondly, alot of your post wasn't even reflecting on Elyon's character, it was all about her status (matriarchy, title of Queen, what she does, yadda yadda.) Sure, that makes her good animated royalty, but how does it make her an "actually well developed character"? For the record, I like Elyon, but chiefly in the comics and second season (whenever she appeared.) She'd probably fall under my least favorite royalty in the first season, in which she was a moron who fell for Phobos' tricks all the way through and yet we're still supposed to feel sad when Phobos traps her in the end, even though she put herself there? Really, it just made me like PHOBOS more! (Not that he's one of my favorite animated royals...)

Look, I don't mind you loving WITCH at all, but please, stop saying it should be the standard every form of animation should aspire to be like! WITCH itself is far from perferct, after all, and if every animated movie/show/whatever was the same, it would get boring.

I think Princess Cornelia is as much like Lelouch as Schnizel is. Lelouch and Schnizel may both have calculating minds, and are strategic genious. But Lelouch and Cornelia both love their sisters and that is their weakness or valnuablity.

I love all of the main Brittanna's royals, except for their father. Lelouch, Nunnally, Euphemia, Cornelia, Schniezel, and Clovis. They all have qualties I like, and qualities I don't. They are not perfect people

I however hate the minor royal siblings especially that brat Caroline. I hate that girl. Actully of the minor Code Geass Brittanna royals, the one I may like is Prince Odysseus, the one who was engaged to marry the Empress of the Chinesse Federation, a girl who was at least 12 year old or younger. That is right, the craddle rocker is the most likeable of them.

I am glad, someone agrees with me that Prince Hydron looks like Prince Schneizel. After seeing the latest episode of New Vestoria, he is offical evil. Not that there is anything wrong with that, I like him for that.

Least favorite

King Patrick - When Patrick became the king of Bikini Bottom he abused his power and acted like a jerk.

Queen Elyon - Before she was queen and before she knew she was a princess at birth, she was extremely clingy and became a nuisance when she was tricked by Phobos. Have you ever wanted to hurt a fictional character? I mean really hurt one? Well I did when she kept fighting for Phobos when the WITCH girls were trying to keep her from meeting a grim fate.

King Neptune (Spongebob Squarepants Movie) - How can he go from being buff with a booming voice to a wimp who cries about his bald shiny head? Why couldn't the real Neptune be in the movie? The crown storyline could have worked with him. Just no bald jokes is all.

Lord Royal Highness (Atlantis Squarepantis) - Instead of kicking out Spongebob and Patrick or to be honest JUST Partick, he kicks the whole cast out of Atlantis. Everyone was much better off there and Sandy even came close to a cure for the common cold.

King Cold - What a wimp. His sons are far better than he is. He got pawn'd by a pink haired kid. Although he was lame, his most hilarious quote is still frequently used around my house (not by me): "What's a Goku?"

Favorite

I don't have a favorite.

Zuko: The best royalty there is... rough exterior, soft interior. ;)

Azula: Yes, worst then her daddy. She's cold and cruel on the outside and a total wackjob on the inside.

I too love the Fire Nation royal siblings.

Prince Zuko is an awesome anti hero for most of the series, and Princess Azula is an awseome straight out villain.

I would love to have seen a battle of wills between Lelouch and Azula. Who would out smart who?

Almost happend though, I wonder how different it would have been had Johnny Yong Bosch been cast as Zuko, I heard he was one of the few actors consider for that role. Before they cast Dante Basco, who did a great job by the way. But had JYB would have been a great alternative choice, I could totally envision him as Zuko.

It is amasing how similar Lelouch and Zuko are. They both have these evil tyrants as father, who vanished them. But I liked Lelouch reactions to all of the evil things his father did to him and Nunnally, but hating him, instead of trying to win his father's love like Zuko. When I think about it, Zuko is similar to Suzaku, stubbern to a fault. As a child Lelouch had the better idea than teenage Zuko did. He knew, the love of his father and people like him wasn't worth anything. He had Nunnally's love and that was all he needed.

Well, judging by Master Toon's post, I'd have to say Spongebob has really lousy royals. :anime:

And, again, agreed on Season 1 Elyon. There's a fine line between naievete and downright blind stupidity. It makes it even stupider that we're supposed to feel glad that she becomes queen even when she did nothing to earn that title or respect.

And now zoombie's post makes me wonder...Lelouch vs. Azula & Suzaku vs. Zuko...who would win?

I wouldn't say being crazier than him makes her worse than him (after all, he pretty much made her crazy to start with, and he's not the picture of sanity himself.) Still, it's lucky she didn't become Fire Lord. She was already banishing everyone on her coronation day...just think what she would do once she was crowned! Executions, anyone?

Y'know, for some reason, they never seemed to count him as royalty in the show, which really doesn't make alot of sense....
