Favorite horror films of the last two years

Some that come to mind:

Martyrs - Was astonished by it, possibly the best horror I've ever seen!
Frontiers - Incredibly good also up there with one of the best ever!
Mum & Dad - A brilliant british horror equal amounts of gore and mental horror! 9/10
Shuttle - Quite good, although just above average! 6/10
The Audition - Amazing and unique asian horror! 9/10
Eden Lake - Amazing and disturbing British horror! 9/10
Thirst - Vintage vampire, the only vampire movie to scare the shit out of me, seriously creepy!

I saw The Orphan and Joshua around the same time last year. I enjoyed both of them but Joshua I liked more.

Here are some other horror films that I enjoyed from within two years.

The House of the Devil ***
Paranormal Activity *** 1/2
The Crazies *** 1/2
The Signal *** 1/2
The Last Winter ****
Rogue *** 1/2
Let the Right One In ****
Funny Games ***
The Ruins ** 1/2
The Orphanage *** 1/2

Zombieland **** (more of a comedy)

I can't remember what stars I gave them, but I also liked Drag Me to Hell and the remake of The Last House on the Left.

It's not the worst film ever, but it's still rubbish.

As for The Uninvited, go for the original film A Tale of Two Sisters first before watching the inferior remake.

Which one? There have been two in the last two years, Saw V and Saw VI. I thought V was very poor. VI was better, but the series gets increasingly hard to believe the further it gets from Jigsaw's death.

Drag Me To Hell - 7/10 - Quite good although it wasn't gritty enough for me and the lead woman was abit stiff looking!

Time Crimes - Very fresh idea, it features the idea of time travel, really interesting and kept me hooked throughout. 8.5/10 It is foreign also.

Funny Games - Up there with one of the best for me, it has huge amounts of tense creepy energy and the heartlessness of the two lead men adRAB to the feeling of dread. Make sure you go for the original foreign version and not the remake. :)

Inside - A great film, features some immense gore and gutting lol, the film has a claustrophobic feel, it is very good. 8/10 It is foreign too.

Broken - A very simple idea and presentation but it works, tense, creepy and the ending is so sad. :(

The Midnight Meat Train - Surprisingly very good, the lead mean Vinnie Jones plays the mysterious charracter very well, interesting and unexpected story developments and enough violence and gore.

Battle Royale - The idea is quite challenging of setting schoolmates up against each other in a sadistic showdown to survive, it's disturbing and has gore a plenty, avoid the sequel it's rubbish.

The best films appear to be foreign! :p

Yeah I know but if I was to narrow it down to just films that were released in the last 2 years I wouldn't have many to note! :)

More that have just popped into my mind:

Cube - More like a sorta sci-fi with elements of horror/dread, one of the most amazing and fresh films I've seen in ages, there are 3 in the series the first one is definitely the best.

Fermats Room - Foreign film, very good and an interesting watch, deals with dread rather than gore.

The Children - OK, nowhere near as good as people were saying, it has it's moments but alot of it lacks genuine horror and looks silly at times.

Let The Right One In - Really good foreign film, not many actual horror/scary scenes the film is far too romantic/poetic to deliver genuine dread & horror but it's a unique vampire flick that'll you'll enjoy. horror score though is 5/10 but as an overall film regardless of horror 8/10.

A few more that come to mind:

Splinter - 7/10 - Sorta original idea, definitely worth a watch.
Storm Warning - 8/10 - Great horror, gore and craziness galore, horror fans will enjoy this!
The Girl Next Door - 8.5 - Not a gory or sterotypical horror at all, set in an idyllic American town, but it contains some highly disturbing and torturess scenes, if heartlessness and great acting equals horror this is a good horror for you, you'll enjoy it.
P2 - An underated film, I thought it was great 7/10
The Dead Outside - 5/10 An average zombie flick promises a great surprise but....nothing!
The Killing Room - 4/10 - A few good scenes found it boring half way through couldn't finish it, not a good sign!
Dark Floors - Had an eerie and rather unique style, interesting, not the scariest film but quite good 7/10
Dark Corners - Another unique and eerie film and has a good story although a tad confusing! 7.5/10
Pontypool - Unique zombie film where you are infected by word transmissions, sounRAB silly but it does work to effect, not the scariest film ever though 7/10.
One Missed Call - Can barely remember it, truly boring drizzle, avoid! 2/10
1408 - A great film and underated, it is really scary just not in a sterotypical way, interesting watch! 8/10
Vacancy - Another really good watch, not the best of it's kind but worth a watch! 7/10
Ruins - A good teen horror flick, some quite horrible scenes but not the best of it's kind also. 6/10

That's it for now come back with more later! :p
