Favorite Don Bluth Movie

I think there was a thread like this years ago, but I decided to make a new one. So what's your favorite? I will have to say Rock-a-Doodle. I have always been a sucker for movies that have all been dreams.

Swan Princess. but only the first movie. I love the music. the character are endearing without being to stereotypical, voiced by an awesome cast. Sandy Duncan, need I say more. and the designs are unique to a Don Buth film, even if Odette looks like Barbie.

I've never turned down a chance to view An American Tail, Very good story, with great animation and a good voice cast. It was my favorite as a kid, never knowing why of course until I was old enough to understand why.

I'd say All Dogs Go to Heaven comes in a close second, with Nimh being 3rd.

I forgot all about Swan Princess. I kept thinking that was just one of those random generic animated flicks made in the 1990's. Pebble and the Penguin is very underrated, I don't care. Martin Short and Belushi playing off each other, two penguins coming to pretty violent blows....I liked it.

And even though it's not a movie, I count Dragon's Lair among Bluth's animated masterpieces.

Anastasia....It's been my favorite Don Bluth film since I first saw it...I love the songs (esp. Journey to the Past) and the characters.Plus,it has really nice animation....

I also like All Dogs Go To Heaven....the conversation between Charlie and Ann-Marie at the ending usually brings tears to my eyes....

I grew up with Don Bluth films so this is a tough choice to choose from but I am going to say The Secret of NIMH because of its great animation and wonderful music. The plot is outstanding and the villian is evil and cool. I have read the book too and the book is just as good.

Second favorite would probably be The Land Before Time.

I didn't know Don Bluth had anything to do with the Swan princess film. He must have only produced it, rather than directed it.

That aside, I pick his first film "The Secret of NIMH". THE BEST 90 minutes of animated film EVER....... from the 80s.

I also like Rock-a-Doodle. Don't know why.

Secret of NIHM for me. Titan AE, Anastasia, and Bartock the Magnificent were decent. Land Before Time was kind of "eh" and I don't remember much of An American Tail. I'm trying to get ahold of Anastasia, American Tail, and Bartock the Magnificent to see them again. I haven't seen those in a while.

To me, none of his films, except Secret of NIHM are "great". Actually, everything that was done after Land Before Time and before Anastasia is pretty downright awful.

Swan Princess was Rich Animation Studios directed by Richard Rich. He churned out two other sequels to it.
As far as I know, Bluth had nothing to do with it.

Secret of Nihm is unquestionably his best film, followed by Titan AE. He really fell off after Nihm and he never came close to equally his early success.

Titan A.E., because it dared to be something other than a fairy tale or a talking animal movie. Plus, it had a great song ("It's My Turn to Fly" by the Urge) as part of it's soundtrack.
