Favorite Character In ?The Simpsons?

I believe this thread has been done several times over the years, but as far as I can tell, it hasn’t been done in quite some time. There are a plethora of brilliant characters in “The Simpsons”. So many, in fact, that I couldn’t fit them all in the poll. If your favorite character isn’t in the poll, please vote “other” and tell us who you wanted to vote for.

My favorite character has always been Lisa. I like her personality and her role within the series, though I particularly like how she has a great balance of merits and flaws. For example, even though she has a kind heart and genuinely wants to do good things, she can be quite conceited and never seems to appreciate her family. I believe these things help her seem more human, which allows people to relate with her and understand her plights. I have fervently enjoyed seeing how she has developed over the years and I’m looking forward to seeing how she is handled in future episodes as well.

Feel free to share your thoughts on the subject.
Please remember to provide a reason for your selection if you post in this thread.

Honestly, I was never too big on The Simpsons and their characters. There was never a character that truly stood out like in most shows that just made you love them.

Sure, they can have funny jokes, but they all basically had generic personalities.

I also didn't how they had a lot of characters. Each with their own catch phrase.

They just seemed unneeded and after 20 years, why do they still thing "Worst/Best Thing Ever" and "Mmmm.... Adjective." is still gonna give people some chuckles.

Which makes me happy that South Park stopped the whole "Kenny Dying" gag and used it only once or so a season, at least it didn't wear thin that way.

Gonna have to go with Lisa. Growing up I could identify with her a lot better than any of the other characters, and we do have kinda the same personality in many ways. She's probably the most complicated member of the family, and for that she's the most interesting. I also get a kick seeing her out of character, mainly because when she does it, it's totally unexpected, unlike say, Bart, who seems to do he most rational thing. Tonight's episode should be interesting.

Man this is hard for me to choose, but I found a loop hole since most of my favorite characters aren't an option in the poll.

I somehow prefer the Wiggums, can't decide between Ralph or Clancy. Why do I like them, just because they give me the most laughs on the series whenever they are on. Cheif Clancy Wiggum, just because he so bad at his job, his screw up are very enjoyable for me. As for Ralph, he just so damn quotable, and I use those quote to make myself laugh whenever I need to.

I also am a fan of Nelson. Sure he the token bully at the beginning, but it really the episode where we see what makes him the boy he is, that are the most enjoyable, showing that he isn't a one dimensional bully. Also if I didn't like him I wouldn't use his "Haw Haw" in RL.

My favorite character in The Simpsons is Krusty the Clown. I've always liked his antics and his voice, and and how he jokes about himself being horrible all the time. Not exactly very deep reasons, but it's good enough for me to make Krusty my #1.

Well, I just love the Simpson family - Bart, Lisa, Marge, Homer...but for sheer hilarity I choose Krusty the Clown. Bitter, neutoric, a seething mass of insecurities and addictions, he's a hysterical cartoon representation of the old phrase "Laugh, clown, laugh, but he's crying inside". He's also the cartoon embodiment of the reason some kids have an instinctive fear of his kind...

And he wasn't listed as a choice, but I like Ned Flanders. However you might feel about his over-the-top Spongebob-like cheerfulness, at least he's true to himself and to his faith. He's never played as a phony, as so many other "religious" characters in other toons are (like in that idiotic Morel Orel) , and that's refreshing IMO.

Robert Underdunk Terwilliger aka Sideshow Bob.
He is the ONLY reason I tune it to the Simpsons.
Hopefully he'll turn up in either the film sequel or in the 21st season.

Homer will always be my top character, but Chief Wiggum is a strong 2nd. No matter what episode he's in, he always has some of the funniest lines. Whether he's being oblivious, crooked, or blatantly wrong, he's always good for a laugh.

I love almost all the characters in a way; being complex or not, they all are easily identifiable and unique. It's a shame, because they've been dumbed down to one-note and one-dimensional characters nowadays but that's a whole other rant entirely.

Bart's always been my favorite. He's known for being a troublemaker, but that doesn't seem to be his "true" nature. Of course, he gives into childish delights with a sense of realism to them, but like we see in episodes like Bart Sells His Soul and Marge Not Be Proud, he's also quite fragile. He's sort of representative of Gen X; socially defiant but quietly distrought. A lot of people identify/like Lisa more since she represents being the outcast or intellectual, and I like Lisa a lot myself but I think Bart, in many ways, is more subtle a character. He's definitely a lot more earnest IMO...Bart seems to readily accept his shortcomings, moreso than Lisa.

I love most of them, but my favorite is Homer....He just never fails to make me laugh, even when I know he's wrong/being a jerk....I also like Grampa Simpson alot (just for the senility and the long, rambling stories that go nowhere)....

I always liked Maggie---cute and funny. Homer's great, as well.

Outside of the Simpsons family, my favorite character's Moe the bartender. Even if the episode sucked, he usually had at least one half-decent line or scene...

I've got go with Mr. Burns, simply because he has never failed to entertain me.

With that said I also have a weakness for Hank Scorpio, he was a such a nice guy and great boss that one would be willing to overlook the fact that he was a would-be world-conqueror who threatened to blow up cities with a laser.
