Favorite Cartoon Theme Song?

I always loved the theme to the Ducktales. It has a catchy lyrics that I still sing to this very day. Same goes for Darkwing Duck as well.

I also enjoyed the theme to the first Ben 10 cartoon. For that one, I thought the song was decent, but for some reason, I like the art style they used for the different aliens, and by that, I mean when the lyrics go "Armed with powers, he's on the case" I just like that art style, along with the Grey Matter frog jumping then crashing into where the TV Screen is.

Oh yeah, I love that part too. One, for the art style, but mostly because that part of the song is sooo catchy, I can't believe it. It gets me pumped!:D I wish Generator Rex could have as cool a theme song.

Cowboy Bebop comes to my mind. Powerful offbeat music theme makes it helpful.
Thundercats have a different open theme to 1980's standards.
Ren and Stimpy: Modern classic cartoon with a great upbeat music tune. (No even song)
Rocky and Bullwinkle: The original themes (Not the re-dubbed music soundtrack) have a appealing music which catch a lot your attention despite the stylised art style.
Spider-Man: The 1967's version have one of the most catchy song ever in history.
Same for the Flintstones. But i like better the "Rise and Shine" version. (Seasons 1 and 2)

Wow, so many to choose from it's scary.

the Comic Strip: The catchy, jazzy foxtrot beat, although from the 80s is one I enjoy thuroughly.

SilverHawks: I loved the guitar riff that Bluegrass played in this- it's a shame that theme songs these days aren't as catchy.

ThunderCats: I know I've mentioned pretty much all of Rankin/Bass's 80's cartoon lineup, but you have to admit this is quite catchy.

Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors/Jayce et les Conquerants de la Lumiere: Shuki Levy was a theme song icon! I loved both the English and French adaptations to Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors, especially since Jayce et les Conquerants de la Lumiere had an extended "album" version of the theme song- something that's almost nonexistant in American cartoons.

Come to think of it, pretty much anything that Shuki Levy composed in the 1980s was catchy, like Saturday Supercade, Samurai Pizza Cats and the Super Mario Bros. Super Show! to name a few.

Spartakus and the Sun Beneath the Sea/Les Mondes Engloutis/Pirates Upon the High Seas: not many remember Spartakus and the Sun Beneath the Sea (Les Mondes Engloutis in France), but the show had a calm, relaxing theme song. The Pirates Upon the High Seas, while within the show was upbeat and catchy, both respectively in its native French version and English adaptations.

While not a cartoon, but still under the same category of catchy theme songs, I'd nominate The Great Space Coaster. The Great Space Coaster was Sesame Street with a sci-fi spin, and even though not as well-known as Sesame Street, the theme song was earworm enducing.

the Ren and Stimpy Show: I love the classic, jazzy tune. it's very much reminiscent to the golden age of cartoons.

Lastly, I'd go with Count Duckula and Danger Mouse respectively because they both had equally good theme songs.

First thing that popped into my mind when I saw this thread: UL-TI-MATE MUS-CLE! UL-TI-MATE MUS-CLE!

I'd also like to mention Cowboy Beebop,X-Men, Samurai Pizza Cats, Ren and Stimpy, Megas XLR, and Doug. There's way too many good ones to list by myself though.

The theme songs to DuckTales and The Flintstones (seasons 3-6). The songs each had a catchy tune and the lyrics both were easy to follow along with.

A lot of good ones mentioned here, but I also want to put in a good word for an underrated one nobody brought up yet - "Dilbert". Easily one of the coolest themes ever composed, with an original and dynamic opening sequence to go with it.

Futurama's theme song has a special place in my heart. The first time I saw it was on TBS several years back, and from the moment the intro popped on and the music flooded in, I had a magical connection to the show and I knew it was going to be something special.

Echoing the above poster, Freakazoid has one of the best superhero opening themes ever.

Animaniacs had a wonderful score also. Upbeat and fun

Bonkers, funny, I've actually never seen an episode, but I love the theme.

For a series that was horribly, horribly, HORRIBLY, bad, Hammerman actually had a pretty catchy theme song. Too bad MC Hammer and Dic didn't put as much effort into the show as they did the opening intro.

Oh Boy, I have too many favorites, so I'll only list a few:

The Disney animated series such as Goof Troop, Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers, Ducktales, and Darkwing Duck. The vocals were ah-maaazing and the melodies were extremely catchy. Gave youna great feel for the times.

Hey Arnold! - This whole soundtrack is nice and chill with the jazz styling of Jim Lang. It's one of the most played on my iPod

Cowboy Bebop - Without a doubt in the top 3 best anime openings of all time. I read a funny comment one time comparing it to "James Bond meets Scooby Doo." I love jazz, I love the horns, I love it all.

Samurai Champloo also gives me a similar feel. Though hip hop, it gives you a great vibe and I love Shing02's lyrics mixed with Nujabe's production.

X-Men Animated Series - my favorite superhero theme next to Freakazoid of course ^_^

Daria - Awesome, simply awesome. It had me quoting "you're standing on my neck," most of my childhood.

Samurai Jack - probably one of my favorite cartoon network show themes. I love when I see either hip hop or jazz intwined with animation.

Cowboy Bebop's theme is fantastic. Jazzy music, nice beat, it's probably the best anime opening I've seen.

I'll add that I always loved the original Scooby opening. :p A classic.

The ones that come in to my mind at this moment are Scooby doo where are you , Flintstones , Jetsons , Inspector Gadget , Thundercats , Transformers G1 , Tiny toons , Animanices , Freakaziod , Chip and dale rescue rangers and Darkwing wing, Also through they not sung I love the theme scores for Bruce timm batman the animated series , superman the animated series Justice league and Justice league unllimted. Also I have really big soft spot for the care bear family theme song

As for actual cartoon theme songs that feature lyrics I woud have to go with the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, that theme song is basically the holy grail of cartoon theme songs in my opinion but Alvin & The Chipmunks and the original Ben 10 song both rank fairly high on my list as well. As far as theme songs go that don't have lyrics I would have to say X-Men: The Animated Series and Di-Gata Defenders would probably have to be high on my list, they both kind of rocked in their own little ways and featured pretty amazing (and catchy) themes. Same goes with Chaotic: Marillion Invasion.

Another theme with lyrics that was somewhat new that I found really catchy was Huntik, the lyrics to the theme song was really cool and the music behind it was really catchy and it helped to set the mood for the entire show in my opinion, I miss Huntik.

Too many choices but my favorite ones would have to be:

Duck Tales- totally awesome. It was great theme for a greatly written show.

Tiny Toon Adventures- We're tiny we're tooney we're all a little looney. I also liked all the color circular frames.

Pokemon Season 1- fun to listen to and it even included Mewtwo.

Scooby-Doo Where Are You?- starts out awesome with the bats and doesn't stop being great. Especially the scooby dooby doo where are you part.

Angry Beavers- loved the trumpet and the dancing of Norbit and Daggit.

Cow and Chicken- sure it was off beat but I just love how bizarre it is with mama had a chicken, mama had a cow, dad was proud, he didn't care how.

Dexter's Lab- I love how sneaky DeeDee is and how she is clicking the button and causes an explosion.

I could go on and on.

Catchy song, I agree and in both in English and French. And there some French dubs of various theme song who's more catchy in French then in English like Rocket Robin Hood and the 1966 Marvel Super-heroes songs.

Btw, should we include the catchy theme songs of various animes/cartoons dubbed in French? It's so tempted to mention the theme songs of Goldorak(Grendizer), Candy Candy, Albator (Captain Harlock). However the French Sailor Moon theme song isn't as good as the German version and even the English one.

Not cartoon but puppet-animated, the openings of Stingray and Thunderbirds composed by Barry Gray, are catchy and when we heard before the songs themselves some words like "Stand by for Action!" by Commander Shore (Stingray) or the countdown "5-4-3-2-1! Thunderbirds are Go!" by Jeff Tracy. We knew what's will come. ;)

And one animated closing theme song was "Lonesome Cowboy" used at the end of Lucky Luke: Daisy Town animated movie, the song reflect perfectly Lucky Luke's character.
