2. MGM- All Tex Avery, Tom & Jerry 1944-1953
1. Warner Bros.-All 1942-1957
Probaly the best way to describe classic WB is "the good ones were masterpieces, and the bad ones were'nt a total loss".

My Top 10:

1. WB (1938-1958) - Well, duh.
2. Pixar - They've done no wrong (except Boundin').
3. Studio 4C - The most daring animation studio around today.
4. Ghibli - Miyazaki's genius elevates them.
5. Madhouse - Got a nice variety of series and movies.
6. HB/CN Studios (1995-2004) - Back when it seemed they cared.
7. Aardman - They've almost single-handedly kept stop-motion alive.
8. Fleischer Studios - Important innovators in animation history.
9. Touchstone Animation - Only made two movies, but amazing ones.
10. Williams Street - Not the best producers, but the best at marketing.

I don't have a top 10, but......

In no particular order:

Filmation (1966-88): Never mind the cheap production values. I was entertained with good stories and quality programming.

Fleischer/Famous/Paramount: Superman. Popeye. 'Nuff said.

Hanna-Barbera: They peaked between 1960-1986. So many classic series.

Warner Bros. (1992-present): Ushering in the current era of animation.

DePatie-Freleng (later became Marvel Prods.): Vastly underrated, Pink Panther aside.

I generally don't have a favorite studio (though I were forced to choose one, Warner Brothers would be a safe bet); just favorite shows and favorite characters.

I definitely couldn't pick just one, but my favorites all definitely come from the golden age of animation. MGM and Disney are no doubt at the very top, with Warner Brothers just below.

The big three, Warners, Disney and Hannah Barbera (the first major TV animation studio) will always be my absolute favorites.

I also love:

Early to late 80's DIC- just before the 90's, when all their shows started to slip down a route of bad animation, and terrible concepts (Double Dragon.... seriously.... Double Dragon). Plus, I just love the music and Japanese animation used in shows like Inspector Gadget and Heathcliff.

Terrytoons- I love Mighty Mouse and Heckle and Jeckle, and the Mighty Heroes to name a few. Truely an underrated studio, whos assets are hidden away in a ogre gaurded cave by Viacom.

Spumco- I really feel for the animators there. They want to go back to a more "traditional" style of animation. Sort of like Tex Avery brought into the modern era. Sort of.

There are so many that were mentioned that I'd re-list, like Aardman and Pixar. They just do amazingly beautiful work.

I just really can't think of any more off the top of my head.

There are a few studios mentioned here that I like but I havn't heard people mention TMS. They really brought to life the animation of the silver age of WB cartoons, plus thier animes are very unique and well done. I wish that they would go back to american shows again, or at least have the US compines want to pay for thier work.
