Favorite Cartoon Music

I would say the 1980's Dic animation shows that had Shuki Levey and Haim Saban do the music. Inspector Gadget and Heathcliff especially. I was lucky to have downloaded the entire French Inspector gadget soundtrack just before the site got destroyed. While it didn't have my favorite background tracks, it had some very amazing ones. They were mostly Inspector gadget theme arrangements.

I wasn't impressed by their job with Captain N, though. Seems they reused mostly BGM from Super Mario Super Show.

My types vary, depending how I feel. I'm a sucker for synthetised music (Except anything from Filmation!!) from late 80's - early 90's. Then again, I love the classic 40's - 50's music from classic composers like Milt Franklyn, Scott Bradley and Oliver Wallace; their music makes the cartoons they composed feel cartoony t'me. And I love Dixieland-based themes, espicially those composed by Doug Goodwin.

It's a shame that these sorts of music are lost amongst all the rap/hiphop/reggie stuff we've got.

Baltofan, either explain why you like this stuff when you post or just stop posting. You add nothing to these conversations other than randomly naming things.

My favorite cartoon music? Scott Bradley's Tom and Jerry scores. Always has been my favorite and always will be. I just wish his 1940s stuff was available on CD. I've also been a big fan of the background music from Disney's Ducktales and a lot of the random stuff from Ed, Edd and Eddy.

I used to love Richard Stone's music, but after a while a lot of it got incredibly repetitive. Whether scoring Animaniacs or a theatrical short featuring the classic Looney Tunes characters his stuff always sounded the same, something that wasn't true of Carl Stalling in the all the years he conducted for Warners.

I also love a lot of the background music from Futurama. It's huge shame they couldn't afford an orchestra for the new movies.

Sometimes I find myself humming the main theme to Eek The Cat or whatever it's called and actually have to think for a minute to remember where it came from.

My favourite cartoon music is from Peanuts, the Raccoons, Ren and Stimpy, Rock and Rule, Urusei Yatsura, Lupin the Third and the Dirty Pair. It's a pretty mismatched list, but I have fairly wide-ranging tastes, I guess. I can't stand most of the cartoon music these days though, specifically the generic techno/fast hip-hop stuff they use in virtually EVERY modern action-cartoon.

I don't think the phrase "et al" applies, unless the things you're listing are similar, and people can guess what the rest of the sentence will be, like this: "I like Tiny Toons, Taz-Mania, Hysteria, et al". One would assume you also mean Pinky and the Brain or Animaniacs, or whatever. You can't just say something like "Peanuts, Akira, Heroes et al," which is basically what you did. Out of curiosity, what else were you referring to in the "et al" part?

As far as musical scores or background music, whatever you want to call it, that is tough, there is so many that I loved.

Depending on what kind of show you are watching, there is some great scores for comedy shows, and some great scroes for draamatic scores. This is what is on my mind now, so I am not saying it is my favorite of all time, but Avatar: The Last Airbender has some great scores.

As far as songs go, my favorites are from the old Hanna Barbara shows. They had a lot of great catchy songs, from "The Bed Rock Rock" or the song by Jet Scrimmer (I forget the name), "Maken With The Magilla", "Inside Outside Upside Down" and "La La La (If I Had You)" by Josie and the Pussycats, and various chase songs in the second season of Scooby Doo Where Are You.

Regarding the Jet Screamer tune, it's Eep, Opp, Ork, Ah Ah. And if the truth be known Inside, Outside Upside Down and La La La (If I Had You) don't make any sense--just sugar coated gibberish.

Thanks for the info, what can I say I guess I like sugar coated gibberish from the early 70's. LOL It is catchy what can I say, but "Making With The Magilla" from the Magilla Gorilla show is my favorite song from the old Hanna Barbara shows.

...What?

For the record I've always been fond of the music in Azumanga Daioh, with its eclectic mix of guitars, harmonicas, and recorders.

Something different apart from the usual favorite cartoon music being that of Yoko Kanno's work.

My response was more along the lines of a "...What? You're leaving because somebody was rather firm and rather irked at how one posted on the forums, and you do your farewells here?"

Well I'm sorry if I hurt Baltofan's feelings. I really am. But he always pops into these threads to throw out a name of some furry animal movie without any explanation whatsoever as to why he likes it. And it's always Watership Down, Farthing Woods, a Shrek movie or The Fox and the Hound 2. One loses credibility as a poster if they can't even explain why they like something or add to the conversation.

Again, my apologies to Baltofan.
