Favorite Cartoon Character

What is one character that just seeing a pic of him makes you smile? :)
Its easy for me. Woody Woodpecker WAS, IS, and WILL ALWAYS be my #1 favorite. I can sit through the worst of his cartoons just because I love the character so much.
Screwy Squirrel ain't too far behind, though.
Expect more detailed post tomorrow...

Right now those are my top four. I hope people actually reply with reasons here and don't turn this into a pointless list thread.
 
Ohhh, gosh. Just having to pick *one* that's just the very best... well, aside from the obvious Bugs Bunny, who honestly *is* one of my favorites either way, I'd say... Yosemite Sam, Rocko, Norb Beaver, Freakazoid... ohh, it's too difficult.

It's a whole lot since all of them were my top favorites, but the best cartoon characters ever out of all my favorite old cartoons that I miss & love that bring out the action/adventure/comedy and which all of them had great personality, traits & character development out of each of them which makes them the coolest characters ever which those are my reasons for liking them.

Reasons, folks. Please tell us why these characters are your favorites. We need another list thread the way Michael Vick needs another lawsuit.

Anyway, there are far too many great cartoon characters for me to nominate just one as my favorite, but amongst my faves are:

Daffy Duck-Basically, he's my alter ego

Slappy Squirrel-ditto

Bugs Bunny-just plain funny and cool. Who wouldn't want to be like Bugs?

The Powerpuff Girls-just a cool concept
 
Red Guy from Cow and Chicken/I M Weasel and Daria.

Well I guess I should explain why, even though no one really cares.

The Red Guy to me is one of the funniest characters I've ever seen. From the movements to his dialog, to the way he talks, to his expressions. It all makes me laugh.

And Daria I like because of all the characters I've seen, I can relate to her the most. She's funny, she's smart, she has to put up with people who don't understand her. Plus she's so cute!
 
Bugs Bunny is in general one of the funniest, most well-defined cartoon characters around. End of story.

Daffy has some great cartoons but his general personality is a bit too schizophrenic (hyperactive goof in one short, bitter self-preserver in the next).

Hana in Tokyo Godfathers is a joy to watch and is one of the best "realistic" characters in animation.

Cowboy Bebop has a great ensemble of characters and Ed is brilliant comic relief.

Haruhi is every teenage otaku's dream so of course I have to put her here.

The Simpsons may be mostly stereotypes, but Homer and Lisa rise beyond that level into actual sympathetic characters, and the rest of Springfield has great comedic chemistry.

You can rely on Pixar's side characters stealing the show. Mr. Potatohead, Frozone, Edna, the sharks, Anton Ego, etc.
 
I'd narrow it down to this, in no specific order:

Yakko Warner(Animaniacs)- Always the intellegent leader of the Warners with a witty comeback ready in one hand, and a catchy musical number in the other.

Daffy Duck- If you don't know him, well, bud, you're dispicable!

The Joker(Batman: TAS)- Psychotic hater of the Bat that I always enjoy watching what he does next, with an excellently recongizable laugh to boot.

GIR(Invader ZIM)- There's far too many great lines I can use to describe him.

Bloo(Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends)- The livest personality in a cartoon charcter I've seen in years, I just love seeing how far he can get himself into.

Beavis- There's just something about him, something I can't quite put my finger in, that makes me kind of feel for him.

The Oracle Twins(American Dragon: Jake Long)- I can probably name just about everyone from this show, but these two are just a laugh and-a-half when they're on.

Starscream(Transformers)- The best part of the show for me is his threats towards Megatron, otherwise, eh, I wouldn't like it anymore.

Maybe I have more to name.
 
Why Woody is my favorite...
Woody Woodpecker is without a doubt the most sociapathic, insane, homicidal character ever. Other others like Cartman are share some of these traits, but Woody is much more unique then any of them. Not only is he insane, he's completely oblivious to it. But he's not a bad guy. He remains lovable and likable even when he provokes Wally Walrus or any other character for no reason. He will torment anyone who is unlucky enough to cross his path. Even when he was toned down, he still remained likable and enjoyable.

VEGETA (Dragon Ball Z)

The guy is a great character, a REALLY bad guy who through the events of his life changed his ways. Even at his best though, the bad guy in him still shone through.

As noted earlier in the thread by another poster--- PLEASE explain in detail why you have chosen these characters. The discussion will be so much richer if there is actually discussion concerning the topic.

If this is just another list thread, there's no point to it, and I will close it.
 
I've decided that my favourite cartoon character is Jane Lane from Daria. It's not that she's the clear leader or anything, there are several others who have pretty much equal placing. But if I had to pick one, I decided to pick her.

As I was something of an outcast in school, Jane was a character I could relate to. Daria was too, of course, but I had more in common with Jane: arty, a bit eccentric, sarcastic but not totally cynical. Also, I found Jane to be more likeable because she seemed a bit more fallible than Daria (in earlier seasons anyway) and overall, she was the warmer, funnier character to me.

As I've said it wasn't too easy to deduce my all-time favourite cartoon character, and I went through various candidates: Homer Simpson? No, he's been ruined by the vulgar excess of newer Simpsons episodes. Ron Stoppable? No, his character is too inconsistent. Helga G. Pataki? No, she may be a great character but overall she's just too mean to Arnold. Batman? I decided to leave him out as he originated in another medium, and therefore isn't to be considered a "true" cartoon character.

So, it came down to Daria and Jane, and I picked the latter for the reasons given above.
 
It was hard to pick one, and in the end these two tied. Max Goof and Alice from Alice in Wonderland.
Max is my fav because he's normal *besides having Goofy for a dad* He goes to middle school, high school, and college. he ages almost in real time. He deals with some teen problems that I at least remember having to deal with too. And unlike most Disney teens, he doesn't marry the first person he sees/dates. Plus he's voiced by Jason Marsden!
I love Alice because I feel we're a lot a like. We are both goody-two-shoes who put a lot of value on manners, but we are not very tactful people. We say what we think, and are not afraid to tell someone off, if we believe they're wrong. We both love to daydream about A World of My Own, and I'm probably a bit insane myself.:confused: Also, who wouldn't want to talk to the Cheshire Cat? :D

well, no character has really stood out above the croud, but he are some of my current favs.

Sasuke... He's badass, which makes for an interesting plot.
Paul... Only cause he's the best rival ever out of the 10 season history of Pokemon

But my #1 guy has got to be Jimmy from Pokemon Chronicles. he's just and all-in-all cool character.
