Favorite canadian cartoons

So does that mean the DiC version of the Care Bears was canadian? The early tv series were canadain made, and looked very much like the DiC Care Bears series. But I am not sure, just would like someone to confirm those episodes were canadain.

Not necessarily. I'm not sure would give you that impression.

Being Canadian, I see alot of Canadian cartoons on TV (I think Teletoon is required to show at least 60% Canadian content or something?) but it's not always made clear whether a show is Canadian or not. I'm too lazy to look, but here are a few of my favourites that are, at the very least, co-productions with Canadian studios.

The Raccoons
Bromwell High
Inspector Gadget
Most of the well-known NFB shorts (the Cat Came Back, Neighbours, the Big Snit, etc)
Rock & Rule

There are a few others, but I don't have time to list them right now.

>>PS: Any canadain cartoons that clearly took place in canada?

Guessing the cartoon 6Teen takes place in Canada; the pilot I saw had the rich girl try to pay for a drink with a Canadian $50 bill (colored pink), with the characters noting "so *that's* what a 50 dollar bill looks like..."

Other Canadian made shows would include the various Nelvana animated offerings, including "Cyberchase"--aside from Gottfried and Lloyd, the voice artists are apparently all Canadian (explaining the British English pronunciation of "lever" in a bunch of episodes)...

I am still of the opinion that ReBoot (specifically season 3) is the greatest Canadian television production of all time. It might be ousted by Battlestar Galactica, but I haven't watched much of that.

Yeah, I'll bet France wishes they made that. But nope, it's Canadian. Well, the first two seasons, anyway.

Well, Battlestar Galactica cannot be truly considered a Canadian "production" anyway. It is filmed in Vancouver, but the writing and buisiness managment is handled completely by Universal/R&D Productions in the U.S..

(Besides, The Sweet Hereafter is clearly the greatest Canadian production ever. :D)

I just received the Yvon of the Yukon series on DVD in the mail. And it's a Canadian cartoon that takes place in the Yukon. I've been wanting to see this series for a long time since it never aired in the USA.

I'm staying in a youth hostel during my stay... thus, I suspect fighting for the place's TV with the other guests just to watch Teletoon won't go over too well (judging from previous hostel experience in NYC, where the TV was constantly tuned to TNT, FX and USA, three of the high points of dull cable TV viewing IMO...the only cartoon I saw the people there watch was "Family Guy"... ick....). :-p

Maybe I can see it at an electronics store or something...

6Teen might be good... or the Canada-only release of "The Man Called Flintstone"...

It's OK. :-)

As others pointed out, it doesn't snow all year round, except for maybe a few areas. Northern Canada is cold, but it's not the perpetual snowstorm they show on TV. Second, that's not quite what you said:

...You implied that it's unlikely for people to be in a swimming pool or a sprinkler in Canada, which is ridiculous. It's not wise to make claims like those based solely on speculation and stereotypes, etc.
(I'm very sorry if this seems mean-spirited or anything, I'm just trying to clear things up. No offense intended, zoombie!)

BTW, Brainatra, I recommend you take the TTC subway to Dundas and go to the HMV superstore. Then you can browse around to see what the Canadian cartoon selection is like. I can PM you with more info about places to look, if you want. :)

They have a Canadian cartoon selection at that HMV? I go there regularly but I've never actually seen it! (In fact, I hit all 4 of the major HMVs regularly around the downtown area) :D

No, not specifically a Canadian cartoon section... Heh, I wish. Sorry to mislead you.

I just meant he could browse through the sections like "TV Shows", or possibly "Childrens'" since it has lots of cartoons, and see which DVDs were new to him. The Raccoons DVDs are apparently Canadian-only releases... I'm sure there are lots of Canada-only ones, but I don't know which ones.
I do know that they're not allowed to sell the Sonic the Hedgehog sets in Canada for some reason-- I believe someone else owns the DVD rights up here apparently...

Wait, The Man From Flintstone isn't available in the US? Anybody know why?

I've never seen "The Raccoons" (don't think it aired in the US, hence why the DVDs you mentioned are Canada-only).

"Man Called Flintstone" isn't on DVD in the US due to some musical score US-rights issue keeping it from being released here; they did however release it to DVD in Canada. My local library apparently ordered a copy of the film from Canada (since they have it on DVD)...

Thanks for the store recommendation!

anybody remember that cartoon that used to come on cartoon network late nights after coast to coast called Oh Canada? man it sucked really really bad.
