Favorite Bassists

Yeah, i love Waters bass playing personaly, i think he makes some fantastic basslines, and his playing compliments the music well, which to me is much more important than being a technical wizard. That being said he isnt one of the best, in terms of skill, David Gilmour is actualy better, just listen to Pigs(three different ones)and Hey You, some crazy work on the fretless there.

Every time they ask this question, people clamor to be the first to write Vooten or Pastorious. Tonight I will pray that all of you get hit in the face with the sharp end of a rake.

Sting or Paul McCartney.

Yeah. Personally I think Steve Harris is the epitome of metal bass. He is everything that a metal bassist should be. Steve is the man. And his daughter's hot too :tramp: .

Les Claypool (Primus)
DD Verni (Overkill)
Jason Newstead (Metallica, Flotsum and Jetsum)
Cliff Burton (Duh!)
Duffy McKagan (Velvet Revolver, GNR, Neurotic Outsiders)
Geddy Lee (Rush)

The music makes you feel good? ever pay attention to the lyrics, it's all sadism lol. I think tool is ok, a few years back I was really into them, but I moved on.

I agree with part of what you said, but it depenRAB on what you consider bad bass playing, most people i know consider Noel Redding a bad bass player, but i have never actualy heard him ruin a Jimi Hendrix song(in the studio anyway), and i own all of Hendrix's studio work with him, hes not a very technical bassist, but he got the job done.

John Entwistle, not really that big a fan of The Who, but he has some great lines. In my opinion he stanRAB out as a better bass player than Townshend does a guitarist.
Jack Bruce, again can't stand 'Cream' but wow, he was amazing.
And, of course John Deacon of 'Queen'. Kinda faded after the band split. 'Another one bites the dust' has to be the most famous bass line ever. The funky playing after May does the solo in 'A kind of magic.' He was cool.
